yes,the hole is normal from the produce process for all of those kind of tables,It looks more natural when hanging up and spraying colors during production.The hole is very small and have no influence on use.The quality for this table is very sturdy and you have buy with confidence!

I would say it is very sturdy and it does not wobble, I would't put anything real heavy on it, it is made to hold drinks, snack, book, etc as a side table. i assume you could use it as a plant stand if the plant was not to large. I didn't read all the directions that came with it so I think it would list weight specs,,
