When I first read the reviews of this product there were a lot of people that complained that there were no mosquito repellent mats that were shipped with it, but after researching it was apparent that Thermacell Mosquito Repellent Mats could be trimmed down to fit, but what I didn't know as just how convenient that would be!I had decided to purchase this product based on a camping video from one of the YouTube channels I subscribe to. Even though the video is out of Korea, they provide English subtitles and it's a great channel that I enjoy watching. They were using the same product and appeared to work very well (according to them, as well as what I saw in the video), so I did some searching and found that Amazon carried it. I was a little concerned though, as I wasn't able to locate any mosquito repellent mats that were sized to fit it, but figured I would try cutting down the Thermacell Mosquito Repellent Mats any way, since they provided measurements for the mats that would fit it.What I found out when it arrived was that simply cutting a Thermacell Mosquito Repellent Mat in half (on the long side) results in two pieces that fit perfectly in this device. If you use two mats together (to maximize the device's repellent abilities) in the two slots, one Thermacell Mosquito Repellent Mat does the job with absolutely no waste, so I couldn't' be happier!The device is well-built, solid, works very well as both a mosquito repellent device (with two "strength" modes, you can repel mosquitoes around the campsite as well as a smaller area like a tent), includes a great little lantern with four modes of brightness, ranging from a ~4W night light all the way up to ~40W bulb, and other nice features (including an excellent and durable carrying case), is definitely something I'll be taking along with me on a LOT of camping trips (not to mention when I'm just relaxing in my hammock in the back yard)!Combined with its quality build and effectiveness, just the fact that I can use *one* Thermacell Mosquito Repellent Mat cut in two for use in this device without any waste whatsoever easily cinched the deal for me. Flextail has revolutionized the lightweight camping device industry with the 5 oz "Tiny Repel". Mosquito repellent, adjustable camp lantern and portable power supply. all in one. This device uses a rechargeable battery to heat a insect-repellent pad that produces an odor-and flying-pest free area up to 20 feet wide. (TIP! Buy the repel pads from Flextail, they work and fit much better than the pads from other producers..) The lantern provides from 40 lumens (60 hours) to 400 lumens (8 hours). Used on the High Sierra Trail in Sept of 2023, which had an abundance of flying pests, enough that I was wearing a bug mesh head net and gloves. During a break I started the Repel and propped it against a nearby stump, and after 2 or 3 minutes of warm-up time, noticed a significant lessening of pests, enough so that removing the head net for drinking was possible. At camp, the Repel not only provided a relatively bug-free environment but a pleasant lamp as well. Hung it in my tent, worked great. The battery needed a recharge after 6 or 7 hours of repellent use. A little heavy and battery-intensive for multi-day backpacking, but for car camping/ campground use...Heck yeah!

This item just doesn't work. The battery holds charge for maybe an hour, and the unit does not heat up to disperse the repellant. I have used this side by side with the leading competitor's brand, and the Flextail just does not repel any mosquitos. I see there is a new model, is that because the first one was defective? Other reviewers have had similar experiences to mine. Flextail: if you want to send me a new one to try again, please do and I will update this review. Otherwise, my advice is stay away and use the brand that everyone else uses with success.

The perfect companion to clip and go. I love that you don’t need the gas cartridges with this product.

Have not been able to use it. It doesn't come with repellent pads, and we were not able to find any. We gave it 2 stars because we knew it didn't come with any pads to begin with. We had hoped we could find some ourselves. This company didn't sell any. They don't even recommend any. The ones that we did try didn't fit. They kept falling out and didn't work. It's too bad, we really hoped it would work for us. If there are pads, let us know so we can buy some. We would still love to use the product.

Update: after a few more days I finally received a response and they sent me out a replacement unit. I'll update more once I have some time to use the replacement.Mine shipped malfunctioning and I didn't know it until the first use which happened to be a few months after purchase. It seems to have some sort of short to the battery and will not stay on. I have contacted support but they have not responded for 4 days now.Can't currently recommend.

I use this constantly in summer to keep the mosquitoes and gnats away. I clip it on whenever I take the dog for a walk in case I need it. I know it works because I get bitten when the battery is done or the pads are finished. The size is great and I occasionally use the light and the magnet function. They’ve finally started making their own inserts so I can stop cutting thermacell pads in half.
