It’s good to know some unknown functions by this book.

This book is hands down, one of the best technical resources for Siemens development with TIA Portal. A lot of other PLC books that I have read, and courses that I have taken cover the very basics of digital logic, a programming language (mostly ladder), and leave the reader with a beginner to intermediate level of understanding of PLCs.… But not this book!Liam takes a deep dive covering the basics, covering IDE specific concepts, showing good practice for industrial programming, SCADA, HMI development, most every IEC61131 language, and even dives into advanced techniques such as an object oriented approach for modular and reusable code.I would highly recommend all levels of PLC learners to get this book if you’re using Siemens equipment, or just want to further your PLC knowledge!

If you have more money than time, then spend the money on this book. It will help you jump start the journey to becoming a TIA Portal expert.I am a TIA Portal daily user. This book would have been great when I was starting years back. There are lots of other books that detail how TIA Portal works also, but I really appreciated that it was updated for using the latest software version among other thing. Other guide books are somewhat outdated in this regard and omit new future system requirements.Liam also took the time to point out other materials and resources that help when working with Siemens products.Where this book shines above the other branded guides, is that you get professional guidance from Liam in such a way one would have to work years in industry to obtain this level of insight. This book will provide the jump start it takes to think ahead of just picking parts and writing code. If you follow the additional guidance on sequencing and structure, you will be on your way to designing systems like a Pro.

This is a great technical resource for both experienced and beginners. It is extremely convenient that it covers both PLC and HMI development, as opposed to some books which only cover PLC programming. (Disclosure: I was a technical reviewer for this book)

This booked goes over some good practices on how to setup your code to make it more universal or reusable. This helps with standardization and quicker development time. Would definitely recommend to anyone just starting out with Siemens or even someone who has been working with the development software but is looking for a fresh perspective.
