Q: Could someone with the define 7 xl please measure the distance between the feet? i have the overall room, but only space for a 19" footprint

The question seems unclear. The feet do not protrude outside the side or front of the case. The footprint is 9-1/2" wide x 23-1/4" deep X 22" tall (but make room above if you are venting upwards)

Q: Does something extra need to be purchased to be able to support 18 3.5" drives?

Yes, you will need additional HDD drive tray accessories.

Q: Will a noctua nh-d15 fit in this case with one fan raised for memory clearance? also, does it accommodate a 5.25" optical drive?

The Define 7 XL has a CPU cooler max height of 185mm, and the Noctua NH-D15 is 165mm with the fans installed. With the fans on the NH-D15 in the default position, RAM modules up to 35mm tall are supported, but the Define 7 XL has enough space that you could adjust the height of the fan an additional 20mm to support RAM up to 55mm tall. Yes, the Define 7 XL has slots for two external 5.25-inch optical drives.

Q: Can you order the tempered glass panel by itself?

I’ve seen it on newegg before and after talking with fractal support they say that you can order the panel by itself. You might have to make a support inquiry if it’s out of stock on newegg.
