Q: Are the green, purple, and yellow different shades than the traditional set? Thank you.

From what I remember, there is a subtle difference in the colors of the brilliant set and the traditional set. The green dotter is probably the one color with the most obvious difference. (I remember the green from the traditional set being a darker green.) The yellow & violet are more similar.

They are like markers and should not soak through page with normal usage

It does not say. It just says non-toxic. But the kids love them. They are bright and easily washable. And they last a long time. I would guess that they are liquid tempra.
