Does this have to be secured to the ground? Or can it be effectively used on concrete, like a patio?

I have a pidgeon and dove problem. I set this trap on the ground, unsecured. The first time the trigger was tripped, there were two doves caught. I guess they were both pecking at the bait seeds when one of them hit the trigger. The trap held them securely in such a way that they couldn't fly so there was no need to attach it to the ground. I see no reason it wouldn't work the same way on concrete.
