Plenty of heft
I like this tool. I'm using to hollow out a pen and pencil holder made of a hardwood glue-up. I like the length, which gives good leverage over the tool rest when reaching deep inside the project. The 'neck' of the tool where the goose neck begins could be shaped a bit better though. I would have like to have had the wide part of the tool extend to the back of the curve of the gooseneck, rather than the gooseneck sort of added on to the flat part of the tool. I had some issues to keep the tool from wanting to rotate while working that section of the inside of the pencil holder. I have not weighted the handle part of the tool yet; so far seems ok, but I may weight it just to see what some of the other reviewers were describing. More weight might help the mass balance of the tool when its in a deep reach. Good carbide tip too. I'd buy it again if I needed another one.

Great tool
Works great at hollowing the inside of bowls. Only issue is it will loosen at the center joint at times.

I Like it
This is becoming one of my favorite tools for finishing the insides of bowls, not just hollowing. You can present it in shear scraping mode to get a very nice finish. I had to experiment with how to present the tool to the work in general. It seems to work best with the tool rest jus a bit higher than center so the cutter slopes downward. If level, it tends to grab, at least for me. Hae not had it very long, bur so far, so good.

Happy Son-in-Law
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my son-in-law. He was thrilled, and immediately made some bowls to check out the overall function. He loved it, and the end product was gorgeous. He could not have been happier with the quality and said a it’s a good value based on the price I paid. I selected it from a wish list he provided me.

Not an interchangeable handle
Some what disappointed that you can't use this handle with there other tools.4/7/20I was able to get the end cap opened and filled the handle with BB. What a difference. No vibration.I also noticed the tool bar is two 1/4 plates welded together. So this hollower has some weight to it now.On the downside. I can't find negative rake cabide to fit it.

Fill handle with BB’s
The tool is much more balanced when you fill the handle with BB’s which adds a little heft to the whole thing. I use it primarily to flair openings in turned vases and this tool works better than any of my standard tools. I haven’t tried hollowing out a vase yet as I am new to wood turning but the time is coming. It’s a good value and I am satisfied with the results.

Great hollower
With mine, I filled the hollow tube handle with steel shot, which increased the weight to a hefty 1lb14oz and really helps to absorb vibration with long overhangs. The benefit of aluminum construction probably saves you money, but makes it a little too lightweight. I also converted the included carbide to a negative rake edge to assist with hollowing resin as the included carbide would be great for wood, but too aggressive for resin.

SOLID, BALANCED TOOL THAT WILL HOLD AN EDGE!
I am accustomed to wood handled turning tools, so I was a bit skeptical at first. But after one try I was sold! It feels natural in your hands, easy to grip and move, and very well balanced. It is a solid, well-made tool that will last many years. I have used it on several small projects and I have not had to rotate the carbide tip yet. It is holding a great edge for way longer than I have expected! I am very pleased with this product and would certainly recommend it!

handle unusable
1) In actual use the tool is push/pulled along interior of bowl. At deepest the cutting tool-fulcrum-center of rear hand is 1:1 or less. No good control is possible. Added so total length is 75cm. The Alum. handle is about ID of 0.75in diameter so turned down a hardwood dowel (1 1/4") . 2) Bend the swan neck rearward so tool cutting edge lies "inboard" of tool "flat". The tool does not tend to rotate with workpiece as when a bit "outboard". Especially handy when doing bottom of bowl - deepest point/ei: perpendicular to rotation. 3\)This piece should to sold as tool holder & bar - without handle.

Solid tool.
Slippery handle and would suggest lock-tight on connecting threads, chatter vibration while turning initially caused movement.

Perfect!
This tool will be used over and over. So much faster than chiselling by hand.
