8040001 Clear Grip Contact Adhesive, 3 Oz, Clear

I had high expectations of this product. Gorilla products are usually high quality. I have used this product on rubber on boots and plastic on plastic. Both times the adhesive has lasted a very short time before coming apart. Araldite or similar product would be much better in my opinion. I find it hard to recommend this product.

Although it looks expensive, but I believe it’s the best.

I bought Gorilla Clear Grip to restore a portable computer travel case manufactured in 1984. The case foam had turned to mush after 37 years (see photos). I took what measurements I could and scraped the old foam out with a spatula. Then I used Goo Gone to remove the old adhesive and gave the whole case a bath. After reviewing the materials the Gorilla Glue is compatible with I bought some Polyurethane foam to replace the old. I tested the glue bond between two small strips of foam and after a 24 hour cure the strips would not separate at the joint. With some agressive yanking I was able to get the foam to rip from around the glue bond but the joint held firm. Gorilla Glue means it when they say that you won't get a second chance to reposition, so I had to be very careful. Next I tested Clear Grip on a small area of the plastic case. The glue did not mar the plastic after cure but it was not easy to get off. I glued a small piece of foam to the case and after cure the foam would not separate from the case. After some agressive yanking I succeeded only in ripping the foam, a good chunk of which remained stuck to the case. I had to use Goo Gone to loosen the glue and scrape everything off. I've attached photos of the restored case with and without the portable computer installed. I'm happy with the result and believe this case will hold for at least another 20 years. I think Gorilla Clear Grip was a great choice for bonding Polyurethane foam to my plastic travel case. I used most of one tube on the case so I'm glad I bought a pack of three. There's plenty for other projects in the future.

I’ve had issues with E-6000, which provides a strong, permanent hold, but it’s very slippery liquid, so you must add hot glue next to it on your project to add stability ubtil the E-6000 dries and cures. Also, E-6000 dries up in the flimsy tube after awhile and is useless and the tube gets cracks in it as you use the glue. Awful packaging for a decent product! However, this Gorilla clear adhesive has none of these issues! It’s the perfect solution, because it acts like a strong tacky glue or kind of like hot glue in its stability BUT it also provides a longer period when you can reposition the two pieces you’re trying to adhere. The tube looks the same as E-6000’s tube but it keeps the adhesive fresher for much longer. Ive been using the tube daily, for many various projects for awhile now with no drying up like E-6000. Gorilla adhesive provides the same excellent, permanent adhesion as E-6000, so it’s a win-win!

This is the best one out of the other 4 competitors using this type of glue, period. Impressive and def waterproof, strong, fast and workability better than any we've ever used. Thanks!
