Great Grado sound, brilliant for home office and home use
Very pleased with these headphones. I find enclosed headphones generally uncomfortable and only want noise cancelling in my in-ear headphone that I use on trains. Grado seem to be the only company making this style of Bluetooth headphones and I already own a pair of Grado 225e, but the heavy cable wasn’t practical for moving around. The open nature of these headphone makes them much more comfortable to use than alternatives. The audio compares very well with my Grado 225e pair, slightly more bass and warmth, but I think those comes from the on-ear foam. I swapped the ear cups with those from the 225e and preferred the slightly brighter sound - they do sound very similar if you do this. I stretched the ear cups a bit in the process, but may buy a spare pair and swap back and forth, putting the new unstretched cups on my 225e. The foam is a little warm and I prefer the slightly more open. (If scratchy on skin) ear pads from the 225e, but that’s a personal choice an varies with mood. The headphones do leak sound, which is fine for a home office or when moving around at home. Range is far better than expected. The build materials feel cheaper than the 225e, but you get lightness in return. The real testament is how much I’ve been using these - only had them a week, but they have had much more regular use than any headphones I’ve owned before.

For Music Lovers
If you want a wire free musical experience around the home then these are for you. If you want to make a fashion statement or use them for a noisy commute buy something else. The build quality is very very good although you wont appreciate that out of the box. The material they are constructed from is ultra light so doesn't offer a feeling of holding something of quality in the hand, but this changes over time. Out of the box they sound a little on the warm side although very pleasant to listen too. But after 20 to 30hrs in use the warmth disappears to give the most beautifully balanced audio you'll ever hear from a Bluetooth headphone. After a while they disappear on your head and you forget they are there. They work ok with phone calls but its not what these are about. They are all about the fidelity of the music and everything else is an afterthought. The 40hr battery life is true plus they offer a wired experience as well via a 3.5mm jack. I'm confident you would not find any Bluetooth device that sound as good as these headphones at any price.

Amazing sound quality, poor build quality
I will preface saying that I had to return these headphones after a about a year of usage - read on to find out why. I will start with the biggest weakness of these headphones and to be fair - probably all Grado products. The build quality or rather the quality of the materials is not that great - the headphones are mostly made of cheap looking plastic and you definitely wouldn't want to drop them since something would definitely snap. You also won't find any extras in the box - there is no cover case or charger and the aux cable they give you is pretty cheap and short. Now on to the biggest strength - sound quality. They simply sound amazing, your brain will regularly get tricked into thinking you are right in the middle of the stage. There are few things you need to consider, however. 1.Since these headphones are open back anyone sitting in the same room will literally hear ANYTHING you listen to - they bleed sound like crazy. 2. They also do not noise cancel at all - they arent supposed to - so if you often listen to music in noisy environments these are probably one of the worst headphones you can get. 3. The sound quality over cable is noticeably better than over the bluetooth. 4. They are not that great for music with heavy emphasis on bass, for example minimal techno - don't get me wrong they do punch out surprising amount of bass for open back headphones but they just can't match a closed back headphones with good seal in that department because its physically impossible. However, any other music that does not overly emphasise bass, especially acoustic music - you will be amazed at how good they sound. 5. Bluetooth module is of the annoying kind - it is VERY loud when turning it on/off and in general the voice commands are irritating and cannot be customised or turned off - there was clearly not much thought put into user experience when it comes to this. 6. If you use these headphones over bluetooth with a device that does not have APTX then the lag will be VERY large that will pretty much disqualify these headphones from being used for movies or games. With APTX its much better so that you could potentially watch a movie but I wouldn't recommend it. Now on to the reason why I had to return these headphones. I used these headphones mostly over the bluetooth but sometimes I also liked to listen to them over the cable - its very nice that once you plug the cable in, the bluetooth module turns off and they work in completely passive mode. What was not nice is that once I decided to watch a video of a concert (it had a binaural sound) I noticed that the channels were soldered wrong! So while on bluetooth right was right and left was left, over the cable it was reversed! I could not believe it took me a year to discover it since they must have been like this right from the start. It was a big let down since this is an obvious quality assurance failure on Grados part for what is a really expensive pair of headphones. All in all - if you want audiophile headphones with ability to listen via bluetooth and normal aux cable these are great but be careful about build quality - in my opinion it does not match the price.

Good sound, interesting backstory
These headphones sound great and seeing them made by a family-run company is nice. In my experience they sound a lot better when using wired connection or AAC as opposed to AptX Bluetooth codec - this shouldn't be an issue for apple users and can be changed in developer options on android

Decent sound quality but poor build quality.
First of the headphones have decent sound quality even though due to the open ear design there is quite a lot of sound leakage. The main problem is the build quality, the power button got stuck and now I can not turn the headphones on, this was only after a month of light use.

I own a few different headphones. I own Bang &Olufsen shown in upper right corner $500, Denon bottom left corner uses cords $1000, Audeze LCD3 (not shown) $3000 with amplifier needed to power them. The Grado is bottom right corner of course $249. With all this being said, I am very impressed with such an inexpensive headphone. The sound quality is perfect, super light weight and...I can hear so much detail of things you wouldn’t normally hear on other headphones. I am very happy with this purchase and regret nothing about them. They are truly amazing. Now they are priced for the average person to afford. These phones allow a person that is poor to own high sound quality phones. They do seem flimsy and fragile with lots of plastic. They are light as a feather and you won’t even notice them on your head. You could wear these all day and your ears won’t hurt. I can’t say that about my more “expensive” headphones. Another drawback is when I took them off too fast the foam earcup came off. That was kinda weird. I put it back on. To conclude....these phones are one of the best. I don’t care how inexpensive they are. Grado could have spent more on fancy styling and etc and charged $700, $1000 and etc. To me it’s all about the perfect sound quality and these phones have it. Update..., the $249 Grado kills the $600 Bang & Olufsen. The B&O is all about style, expensive look and etc. Thr Grado sounds reference almost. And when plugged into a Dragonfly USB D/A plays super loud and clear. The Grado almost or even compares to my $1000 Denon cord phones.
