Great nonfiction early readers!
My son doesn’t usually like leveled reader stories, he loves science though so these were a great way to practice reading! Lots of RED words and repetitive sentence structure to help reinforce reading skills.

Great early readers for animal lovers
My daughter is in a dual-language program, where they only teach reading in Spanish in kindergarten. I decided to teach her to read in English over the summer, and I really needed to build her confidence after a tough year of being taught to read in a language she just started to learn. We moved through Level A & B texts from our library pretty quick, but there weren't many Levels C & D which brought me to Amazon. I found these gems when looking specifically for animal texts, since my daughter is obsessed with animals. They are truly amazing. One, my daughter wants to read them. Two, she brings background knowledge so she can pair that with the pictures and decoding to really feel like a successful reader. We read a lot of non-fiction animal texts that are above her reading level, and these pair so nicely to allow her to read independently on a topic that she loves. They've given her so much confidence and allowed her to develop English reading skills in a matter of weeks!

Appropriate, Enjoyable, Longer Words, Excellent Pictures & Nice Quality Readers!
Fourth of the ABCD set of Guided Science Readers and appropriate for beginning readers. The D readers are simple ideas about nature/animal/people but the words aren't so simple, so instead of a lot of only two or three letter words, the child is taught to read much longer words in multiple sentence format and in repetition style (which is fine so not to intimidate a new reader who is reading more than simple words and expanding from set C.) Pictures above words are clear photos and appropriate and match the words. Would recommend for a reader who knows the alphabet and some shorter Kindergarten sight words and most sounds that most letters make (phonics). The D readers are eight pages long and good for children's small hands (5 and 1/2" by 5 and 1/2" or 14cm by 14cm), but again not to intimidate and remain approachable and enjoyable while encouraging. Covers are card stock and pages are glossy and are about as thick as typing paper and the edges are sewn, nice touch. These will last through several readings and can be stored in the matching sturdy cardboard box. Animal reward stickers and an activity book are included which further encourage learning and very early reading comprehension skills! Bought all four of the ABCD reader sets since they expand from the set before. Recommend for any child who is learning how to read!

A must have for beginning readers
These predictive text readers are wonderful for children learning how to read. The repetition of words and interesting graphics help little ones feel accomplished. Each book is 8 pages long - just long enough to not become frustrating and long enough to have the child build a sense of accomplishment. If your child loves science and animals, these are a must!

Disappointed they are so small...
Searched out Level D readers for our first grader. Wanting level E. COuld not find packs that were not teachers packs that included multiple copies until this purchase. Received last week and although they are the level I wanted they are SOOO SMALL! Like two pages each book. We will read through all of them in a few days then donate. Disappointed they are not more substantial. Could not tell from the product description.

Great price point and tons of different titles
I bought these for my first grader for practicing at home with. She loved the nonfiction books and was excited to be able to read them herself. There were honestly so many that I split the books up between our family and a friend who also has a beginning reader.
