Gain confidence—read this book!
The media could not be loaded. This is an excellent book! It will equip you with the skills and confidence that you need in order to confidently traverse life’s difficulties. This book has given me the confidence I need to stand up for myself. I’m being threatened with torture in my life by government officials who are trying to force me to retract my ideas. After reading some of this book and seeing the sections on self-efficacy I now have the confidence I need to stand up for myself. I even looked at myself the other day and said “I hereby declare all future retractions of any of my ideas null and void for the next one hundred years.” I said that and I meant it, which is a huge boost in self-confidence for myself. After reading this book my self-efficacy has gone way up. So if you too are dealing with any bullying or blackmail type stuff in your life, or anything else that requires perseverance, read this book!

I will always recommend this book.
This book is phenomenal. It's repetitive because it needs to be.Those who say they got nothing from clearly did not actually do anything the book recommends or thinks so highly of themselves that there is nothing to change within themselves. This book is incredible. It's the only self help book I have found that gives you practical steps, things to actually do to overcome these issues. Other self help books just tell you to think more positively or be more disciplined. Yes but how? This book can be painful to read if you have a lot of painful memories of the past. But if you truly want to be happier and have that change you got to get to the uncomfortable things. And of course opinions are biased, when are opinions not? However if you can look at the opinions objectively then you'll be fine.I personally think those who gave this book a bad review need to check themselves.

Exploration of Resilience Using Cognitive Behavior Therapy
****This book was an exploration, via cognitive behavioral therapy, of resilience, and gives the reader seven skills to master to increase their own resilience. The two authors, who are also resilience researchers, call these skills: emotion regulation, impulse control, empathy, causal analysis, self-efficacy, and reaching out. These seven skills can be measured (and the book includes self-tests), learned (through practicing concepts discussed in the book) and continually improved.Although this book was enormously helpful to me, it does cover only the aspect of resilience that responds to CBT, and thus is somewhat narrow in scope. It doesn't explore spiritual aspects of resilience, or other approaches, just cognitive behavioral therapy. However, it does this quite well. In addition, the writing style was academic, so I felt as though I was reading a text, and it was a bit of work to get through it rather than fun. Note that in this paperback version the text is small; I struggled especially with the text size in the inset boxes. Still, with those limitations, it covered the topic well and will be very useful to me.Recommended.****

Super informative! Excellent reference.
Well written, researched and organized book.Resilience is imperative for success and happiness. Why do some have it and some don't? Why do some people roll up into fetal position with adversity while others thrive? The good news is that you can improve your resilience!

This book will change how you look at things.
What can I say about this book? I have purchased this book (not just from Amazon) ten times, and I give them away. This book will help you change your perspective on situations and interactions you have, not only with others but also yourself. This is something that will help all people of all ages. In today's world of the "new normal," it will normalize how you look at the world. Add this to your library, and you won't regret it!

book arrived in great shape, not a good read
The seller provided a book in great condition. I have heard the material in this book is amazing but it's quite difficult to make sense of the author's writing. I find it to be a frustrating read but hopefully others find it to be beneficial.

Difficult to read and repetitive, but there is substance deep down
There are some good processes in this book however, the writing makes it so difficult to discover them and to put them into a framework. There is a great deal of repetition and the chapters, although they have descriptive titles, do not seem to have a forward movement towards a goal.I was very excited to read this book because I've read numerous books by Seligman and have found them extremely useful. Since both authors teach at the University of Pennsylvania, I dove in.I read the entire book and took notes. I then took my notes and put them into a form that reflex the processes that the authors describe. Once I saw the abbreviated form it was extremely helpful. I am convinced that with good editing this book could have been 1/3 of the length and far more effective.

LOVED IT!
I loved how these 2 experienced authors are able to describe how to help make your thoughts become resilient. I've read similar books on the topic, but I prefer this one better because of how simple the authors make the process, plus they give clear examples, which always helps. I'll admit, I skipped the 1st section of the book, so I could get right to the meat of the book-- my husband was bored by the first part and stopped reading, so if you find yourself bored at first, jump to the second section where it gets good.
