Not only are the illustrations absolutely SUPERB the storyline is also fun. Wanting to reach the other side of the river, the littlest and youngest billy goat trip traps over the bridge first, dressed in a diaper. When the troll and his frog approaches it, it tells him that there is a bigger goat coming so being greedy, the troll agrees to let the littlest goat pass over unharmed. This happens with the medium sized goat also but the story changes when the big goat starts crossing the bridge. He's ready to fight! The last we see of the troll of him swimming down the river. FABULOUS retelling and highly recommended. Thrilled with our purchase. Thanks, Liz Review: Kids love it - I bought for my classroom, very nice quality and the kids love this story! Nice sized book with very colorful pictures

Warning for toddlers… the troll is terrifying!
My almost 2 yo loves classic stories. I really wanted to add this one to our collection but all of the versions I found in person were too scary. No photos of the artwork were provided by Amazon so I looked for pictures in the reviews. Those customers must have bought a different book. My son opened this book the second I pulled it out of the box and screamed bloody murder. Not gonna lie, I gasped. The troll is terrifying! I had to take it to another room, which he is now refusing to enter. I know, dramatic. I purchased the board book and the quality and condition were great. All of the artwork is hand-drawn with a lot of detail, but I caution anyone looking to purchase this book for the average toddler.

I was looking for a really well illustrated copy of this classic tale after introducing the story to the 3 year old I look after. He's currently fascinated by trolls. It fits the bill and he thinks it is a really funny story. The goats are not irritatingly cartoony or photo-real, but perfectly and realistically drawn so as to show their emotions and characters. The big billy goat's appearance and ousting of the pesky troll is perfect, I like the way he is bigger than the troll, who is shown as a rather sad little beast, like a scruffy hairy homeless goblin. I am glad the troll is not a horrible scary one and good is seen to triumph over evil. I also really like the unusual angles chosen for some of the pictures, with the little goat seen from below, troll's eye view, as he tiptoes over the bridge. The only slight imperfection is I do have to ad lib some of the words so that each goat's appearance is marked by the key phrase, "UP POPPED THE GREAT BIG TROLL. WHO'S THAT TRIPPING AND TRAPPING OVER MY BRIDGE?!" as that is the right and proper way to read this story. The last page has a superfluous, meaningless rhyme "snip, snap, snout, this tale's told out" but a lovely picture of contented goats in the meadow.

Excelente livro. Linguagem simples e com boas ilustrações. A qualidade do audio também é boa. Meus filhos de 4 e 2 anos gostarm bastante da história em inglês.
