Love the versatility
I am so thrilled with this appliance.I’m a very busy person with four kids. I often get side-tracked while keeping the kids on-task and forget to start my slow cooker. There are no more worries with this appliance. If I get a late start, then no worries. I can just use a different function and make things happen more quickly.I love that I can sauté or sear in this appliance. It’s so nice when making a roast to be able to work from start to finish in the same pot. I absolutely hate dirtying multiple pans. I no longer have to thanks to this appliance.I have not yet tried the sous vide function, but hope to in the near future. Steam works great. Slow cook is amazing! Stew and Roast—heck yeah! Rice, OMG!I have noticed that many people are complaining that this isn’t an “Instant Pot.” I will address that by saying that we are talking about a brand name, not a pressure cooker. This product is simply put out by a company known for their pressure cookers. They are correct that this is not a pressure cooker, so if you are looking for one, then this isn’t it.In conclusion, if you want something that allows you to do just about everything, except pressure cook, then buy this appliance.

Amazing device. Not a pressure cooker.
At first reading the negative reviews on the product I was a bit dismayed and thought I had made a mistake. First off this is not a Intstant pot pressure cooker, you should have read the product description. Second I kept seeing all these bad reviews because of the slow cook feature not getting hot enough, they are wrong. I set up my cooker with a thermometer to test it out and here were my results. So let's say (as I did) you put a leg of lamb in it. You hit the slow cook button and set the time for 6 hours. You check back in after an hour and it is not as hot as you think it should be. Well folks, that is not how this item works. I called the company and figured it out. So for the first 3 of the 6 hours the temp climbs very slowly to allow for some serious saturation of the lamb. Over the next 3 of the 6 hours the temp really starts to increase. At 4 hours of the 6 the temp hits the 200 range for some serious slow cooking. It works like a charm and is a really great product. So glad I got this on sale. Oh and the Sous Vide setting is awesome.

This pot helps me to cook!
This pot is about quality, I have read the instructions and started ,step by step . I am very satisfied ,it needs time to learn. Not all functions work in your way,try to cook slow and small portions. I like a function Sear Saute, U am a vegetarian and it is nice to cook vegetables. Bake and Roast are almost the same ,just control temperature of cook. I like Keep Warm,it works super. I saw a couple of umages with cleaning pot, it is very easy to clean. I put water and press bake, choose temperature ,when it is hot,I cancel warming ,wait for 5 minutes and wash it easily.

Nice unit but understand it's limitations
Perfect at searing, slow cooker, stews, not so much for baking - I sometimes use it in place of frying stovetop because of the high sides. However, it does poorly at baking/browning - you will not get that nicely browned top - it recomments if you want that to put the item inder a broiler for a few minutes. Recipies also call for "pot in pot" baking or lining with parchement paper. Haven't tried the sous vide or rice cooker settings yet.Pros - easy cleanup with the stainless steel liner, grips stay cool for removing the liner, good size/capacity, easy to use control panel, convenient for countertop, liner weighs far less that a ceramic slow cooker, yet is very sturdy & allows for searing in one potCons - no top browning like you get in an oven, liner gets very hot (caution needed if you reach in - don't touch the sides!), doesn't evenly heat across the base (uneven searing - corner areas)Overall - for the price I got it (treasure truck deal) I'm happy - I would be disappointed at the full selling price though.

Love This Though It Isn't What We Thought We Were Buying
Everyone is getting the InstaPot Pressure Cooker and we wanted one too. I specified the 8 quart model & my husband surprised me for Christmas. Only we were both surprised as this is a MultiCooker which has all of the same functions EXCEPT Pressure cooking. My first reaction was to return it but I'm glad we didn't. This is so versatile and cooks fast enough! I made a 7lb roast that would've taken 5 hours in the oven in under 2hr, was able to sear it, roast it, and simmer veggies all in the same pan and have an awesome dinner in under 2 hours. Honestly the build up of the pressure cooker and the release scares me. Happy with my MultiCooker. The only complaint I have is lack of recipes. There are a ton of cook books for the pressure cooker but I've only found the cook book that comes with the unit. Joined a couple facebook recipe groups so that helps and trial & error. Made some not so great chicken legs & thighs with baby carrots. I kept putting broth at the bottom so the chicken wouldn't burn - it turned out good but for the last 20-30 minutes I added the carrots. They were super greasy from the chicken skin.

Not the slow cooker you’re used to
I’ve had this Instant Pot for over a year and am just deciding to write a review. I bought this to replace my Crock Pot. After all this time and trial and error, I’m disappointed in its slow cook ability. My traditional Crock Pot recipes don’t work with this unit. They take significantly longer. I recently started using the Sous vide function and it’s amazing. For those of you looking for a traditional style Crock Pot, i don’t recommend this. It just doesn’t seem to keep the heat that ceramic crocks do.
