Whiteside makes the best router bits
Whiteside makes the best router bits, period. This bit is chewing up cherry, walnut and quartersawn white oak with no problem. At the end of this week, I will have completed a bank of Shaker built-ins 23 feet long and six and a half feet high. I used a Whiteside Shaker router bit set to cut the raised panels for the 28 doors for this section of built-ins. You can find the diagrams in the Fine Woodworking, Oct 2011 edition. The bit set ran through this premium cherry with no problem at all. Whiteside builds tough bits.

Great bit
Whiteside router bits are great, and this bowl-cutter bit is no different. Goes through walnut like butter.

Does the job right...
If you are going to cut bowls or candy dishes you need a 1/2" shank. You can do it with 1/4" but keep the shank short or the vibration will cause you problems and can be dangerous. White side has a good quality carbide and the bits I have used for years still work well...

Great bowl cutting bit
OverviewThis is my first bowl cutting but that I have used to make dark walnut cigar ashtrays as a gift. Saw plenty of reviews for cheaper bits where people bent/destroyed them because of the thinner 1/4in shank. Didn't want to buy a super expensive bit so settled on this. The quick and dirty is this: don't buy a cheaper bit than this one or you will likely regret it.Pros-Cuts really well even while plunge cutting.-Top bearing allows for use with templates.Cons-Seems to cut best on my routers lowest speed setting. Meaning material removal can be slow.Wrap UpOverall I'm giving this product 5 stars functioned perfect for what I wanted. Yes material removal was slower than what I wanted, but when you are doing plunge carving it is to be expected. I just used the turret stop on my router and did a few passes. I have been very pleased with this product and do recommend it for use. Especially if you are unsure if you want to go with cheaper options. Save yourself the headache and potential hospital visit and order this one instead.

Quality American company and products...
I have purchased and use several Whiteside Router bits. They have performed great and when I'm looking to get another router bit I first look for a Whiteside bit. I had a problem with this bit and I sent an email to the company to explain what happen. Yesterday, Whitesides sent me a brand new bit at no cost. I really appreciate this American company that produces quality products that they stand behind. Thanks!

Whiteside router bits are the best!
I own several Whiteside router bits and this one, like the others I've bought, works well. My only issue was the time it took to get it. I was in the middle of a project and it took several days to get it with delayed shipping.
