Quick Guide Run your fingers over your freshly washed and dried paint work. Feel for a rough, gritty texture? This is caused by embedded particles. Bonnets are often the most contaminated. If you can feel these particles atomise a fine mist of clean tap water over a 2-3 square feet area, using a plant mister or suitable spray. Glide the auto-clay over the wet surface, properly lubricated clay will move effortlessly just like an ice hockey puck on ice. You may well hear the contamination at first, this will quickly reduce as you move the bar back-and-forth. Keep the bar moving until the noise has gone Check again with your finger tips to check that all the contamination was removed. Once your car’s paint is glass smooth - and it really will be - use auto-balm, cleanser-polish, finis-wax, hydra-wax or micro-fine to seal the pores and provide a deep gloss shine.

Mein gotten ...
This stuff is good! The good weather finally gave me a chance to use this clay and I'm extremely impressed. I usually 1. hose down my car before 2 .a good shampoo with a sponge, then 3. drying before finally 4. waxing. You use this stuff between 3 and 4 - after you've rinsed off the shampoo, but before the wax.To use, you break off a small piece, flatten it out a bit and then rub on the wet car paint working a small area at a time (I'd worked on areas about the size of a paperback novel). My car looked clean after I'd shampoo'd it but when you first start working on an area with the clay, it feels a bit rough, after 4 or 5 passes however it become much, much smoother (slippery even) and when you look at the clay itself, you can see all the extra dirt it's lifted off. I was amazed by the fact that it even removed tar spots (something I've previously only been able to do with petrol or diesel) without too much effort. To do the job properly then does take a while, but the results are well worth it; after claying the car paint looked fantastic and the wax went on and buffed up much easier than usual. I tend to only do a proper job of waxing my car about once a year, so the extra effort isn't that much and a good wax layer makes washing the car much easier for the rest of the year whilst also providing good protection. From now on, I'll definitely be using this stuff whenever I'm about to wax my car. It makes a huge difference. And for anyone that's read this far, if you're like me a feel a little overwhelmed when stood in front of the multitude of car care products in their shiny packaging on racks upon rack at Halfords, I've narrowed down the choices to some products that I find work excellently, these are:Shampoo - Meguiars all purpose cleaner (works well on the interior too)Wax - Collinite 845 insulator waxand of course this wax.Between these, the simple wash/rinse/clay/wax approach and some elbow grease once a year (+ not having any car accidents!) you can keep a car looking great without the need for a multitude of products in expensive packaging with tempting promises of long lasting results with minimal effort, etc, etc and that cup of tea when you step back to admire your now gleaming motor tastes just that little bit better too!

Added £500 to the value of my car
First attempt at claying.Bilt Hamber came top in an Autoexpress review [...] so decided to go with that - and the fact it only needs water as a lubricant.Wow. so easy and quick to use.I have Just bought a second hand 2012 silver VW Touran from a guy who obviously hadn't shown the car any love. His driveway was surrounded by trees, so when you got up close the paint was covered in tree sap and it had also looked like it had been driven though a vat of tar at some point with spots all over including the roof! Because of the overall appearance I paid a good price for the car - at least £2k below book price.Within an hour I had completed claying and the paintwork is now like glass. It made waxing the car nice and easy too and i reckon it's added at least £500 onto the value of the car!I used half the bar and 2 spray bottles of water - you need LOTS of water.

This clay bar stuff is amazing!
Incredible! I'm not an active car detailer, but do like to keep my car clean so after doing some research I discovered clay baring as a step in cleaning the car. I was sceptical but having watched many youtube videos extolling the virtues of claying your car I made the purchase. I bought this one as I also use their wheel cleaner and car shampoo which are both excellent.I was skeptical but I did two non-contact washes, and a contact wash and dry. Then it came time to use the clay. I cut a third of this bar and molded it and using a trigger-spray water bottle set to work. Well, what can I say? I could HEAR the dirt being lifted from the paint as I gently swept the clay back and forth across the water-soaked area I was working on, then the noise disappeared as the paint was left clear before I moved on to the next section. I then wiped each panel dry with a microfibre cloth before moving on to the next panel. The paint was so smooth to the touch it was amazing - no tiny spots of drag at all. I used about two-thirds of the bar for the entirety of a BMW 1 series and each piece was filthy at the end of each panel before I folded it over to use the clean section.Having finished the claying I used a poorboys glaze for lighter paint colours and finally the bilt hamber wax to seal it all off.The car has never looked better. I highly recommend this product and all their products that I've mentioned in this review. It takes an afternoon to clean a car to this level but you'll be delighted with the results (and you only have to clay once or twice a year so I'm led to believe).Set aside some time and enjoy the eventual fruits of your labour.

really brought both cars up to a brilliant shine. almost too good now i can see all the dents haha.No ,seriously, great product and water is great for lube making it really good value. for example the meguiars one is like one slice of this, plus you need a lube (detailing spray) which can get costly. This is also the right hardness, as ive had hard bars before and all it did was cause spiderwebbing. This is just right

Great product, fantastic results
I've just got a new car (well, new to me but 5 years old) and although it looked fantastic in blue, the paintwork felt very rough to the touch. And rubbing a hand across the paint sounded like rubbing your hand across fine sandpaper. I tried thorough cleaning, T-cutting and waxing but it didn't really make much difference. So I decided to try a clay bar and picked this one for several reasons. Firstly, you get 200g for 12 quid plus p&p, whereas with the meguiars clay bar that I'd seen in halfrauds, you only got 50g for a tenner. Secondly, you only need to use water as the lubricant; some other clays need detailing sprays which adds another few quid to the bill.Using the clay was easy and the results were fantastic. My paint now feels silky smooth and all it took was about an hour with this clay bar and a water spray. Wet the panel and then rub the bar gently across it, quickly and safely removing all bonded contaminants and leaving a smooth surface.Overall, I'm very happy with this product and I would highly recommend it to anyone who cares about the appearance and feel of their car's paintwork.

Top grade product great value
Very good product! You get a good lump of clay to work with. I chopped mine into four parts and clayed the whole car with one piece. I think some sections could have done with a courser grade but overall it did the job well using only water.Bad idea to use soapy water you'll struggle to keep hold of it.

So far not had the chance to use it fully on car due to weather. However, have used it on front screen. Worked absolutely fine. Screen felt very smooth after compared to how it felt before, which was fine before , BUT definitely felt much much smoother, after using this, like Glass should be.Also using it with just Water was brilliant and so easy, convenienant. I think anything else would have been too much effort and hassle. No point. This was easy to do and worth it for the result on the glass. Cant wait to use it on the whole body once weather is good.

The Absolute Business
Amazing clay, doesn’t require a special lube, just water and works perfectly. Just clayed my Audi roof, was really rough, half an hour later and it’s like glass. Beautiful finish. Will buy again, but perhaps the soft version next time though as the medium was a little tough to work with - need strong fingers to make malleable.

My wife has a white car which attracts tar like (insert whichever saying you like)
My wife has a white car which attracts tar like (insert whichever saying you like). Jet wash and wash mit won't even touch the tar. Wet this little beauty and effortlessly it removes all the tar from the bodywork. It does struggle when tar is on plastic trim a bit but, what an improvement. My wife said it looks like a new car again.

For Perfect, Glass-Like Paintwork
Great product. My Subaru Impreza paintwork came up like glass after using this just once. It's not the easiest thing in the world to use, so I would recommend watching a tutorial first to make sure you use it properly.

It isn't at all abrasive, it is more like putty.
It isn't at all abrasive, it is more like putty and very easy to use, just wipe over the wet paintwork until it stops grabbing and slides freely and smoothly. It grabs all the little spots and sticky bits that build up on paintwork over the years.Polish and wax afterwards to protect the new clean paintwork.

Perfect clay bar!
This is the best clay bar in my opinion. I was hesitant as to which one of the clay bars to use but the all around medium clay bar from Bilt Hamber is easy to use and did the job. I have used a warm water and just a quarter of the bar to clay bar a big family car and that was all that was needed. You can avoid the cost of buying a lubricant but make sure that you spray a lot of water on the panel that you will be working on.

Good value for money.
Good stuff! First time claying my car, picked up loads of stuff and made my car feel smoother than ever. I paired it up with Dodo Juice Clay Lube and it worked great! No scratches left behind and no goo off it either. I'd suggest braking in half instead 4 pieces as it was pretty difficult to get 4 even pieces. Just knead and fold as it gets visibly dirty to avoid scratching paint.

Item came well packaged .If you follow the instructions and use water or a clay lube as you work the clay over the panels you will quickly be amazing at the amount of contaminates that it will remove leaving you with a smooth new feeling paint job

Car looks better than new!
Very good product. I hadn't used clay before, but I followed the instructions on the seller's website and it was easy - and also a bit quicker than I expected (but I only have a Mini)... I was a bit sceptical until I saw what the clay was picking up, and felt how smooth it left the paint. One polish and one wax later, and the car looks amazing - a definite step above the finish I was getting before. I used a quarter of the bar, so it feels like pretty good value. Will probably aim to do this every 3-6 months.
