Going to see this show in Cottiers Theatre Glasgow in May so thought I better get to know it.I knew the well known numbers but loved it right through.Only track that grated was "getting married today" but maybe it was meant to.The extra track with Larry Kent singing "being alive" was a great bonus

A brilliant show by Sondheim with unforgettable songs and superb performances. Just the best -- highly recommended even to non-Sondheim fans.

I bought this as there isn't a CD of the superb concert performance by the New York Philharmonic. While the vocal performances are on a par with that outstanding concert, the theatre orchestra can't compare with the sumptuous sound of a full symphony orchestra. That quibble apart, this is a splendid recording which captures the vigour and zest of Sondheim's breakthrough show. From 'Company' on he had his own voice and unique style quite uninfluenced by what had gone before - indeed, from this point, he became the major influence on the development of musical theatre in America. All of the sparkiness and astringency in both music and lyrics is in full bloom from this show on. If only there was a CD of the NYPO concert, so we could enjoy the music as much as the lyrics at home!

Again another wonderful performance by the cast of this show and I would have liked to have seen it non the less this was outstanding.
