Great Fast NVMe SSD drive. Really easy to install, the design has cooling built in including the label itself, it works great in a case as an external fast 5gb - 10gb speed usb 3 drive and as an internal high speed drive. The price is excellent and i'm really pleased with my purchase and the high quality of this ssd. Used this to back up dying old Mac drive before installing in slow HP Laptop, wow what a difference it made.

I was expecting this drive to be qlc, given its price to capacity, but it turns out it is TLC, a substantially higher quality type of NAND. This makes it faster and more durable over time, at the expense of capacity or price, but this seems to be cheap and a decent size regardless. Its a data drive so its widely compatible and slim enough to fit most laptops that will accept a 2.5" data drive.

Went for one of these having used a Toshiba drive for a number of years, assuming this model would be an improvement. Benchmarking was interesting, with sequential performance being a bit worse, especially surprising with reads sometimes in the 300's of MB/s. The much slower 4K tests actually rated higher though, so maybe some performance compromises have been made to improve file access. This would seem to be confirmed by the biggest difference coming in the access time test, where read and write are similar. Normally write access time is much less than read, so in the case of the Kioxia it can access to read a file a bit quicker but take a bit longer to write access. Maybe as a system drive this could be beneficial where lots of individual files are accessed? Running the compression benchmark in ASSSD produced a very inconsistent graph, when compared to the Toshiba (which is MLC flash, not the TLC on this) with read gradually increasing and write dropping down badly in between good performance. For that reason I'll stick with the older drive as a system drive and use this one for additional storage, for which it is a good value solution, so long as it lasts well. I am not too sure about that though, because this has "made in China" written on it. Experience tells me that it may fall short on quality control of components and manufacturing processes.

better than a mechanical drive. it's only SATA but more than enough to run windows. I purchased this to replace a mechanical hard drive on a very old laptop. I was able to fit it into the case of the laptop and install windows. It's only sata so around 550mb/s but more than enough for an ageing laptop. after i got everything installed the bottleneck on the laptop went from a slow hard drive to the 6th gen intel cpu thats holding it back. at a low discounted price this was an easy purchase to get an old laptop working at a useable condition until I can just replace the whole thing.

Excellent upgrade. Easy install. Would suggest they provide standoffs as so many prebuilt dorm supply the parts for the motherboard if adding a drive.
