Great way to get into using a Raspberry Pi as a Homebridge hub
The kit was fairly simple to put together and the device worked perfectly for what I need. I really appreciate the additional parts of the kit like the USB writer for the micro-SD card and the HDMI cables. It was also really easy to follow the directions to set up the SD card to run Homebridge on the device.

Instructions are missing/incomplete; Imaging hardware encounters problems
The quality control on this product is abysmal. The instructions are missing, inaccurate, or incomplete. The kit comes with an SD micro card, and you are asked to image it with a raspberry pi OS. Trying to image the card from the PC produced a litany of errors. From "cannot format disk" , to "you do not have permissions to format the card"... but it does it anyway!?!?!?The instructions for connecting the fan are just plain wrong. The product refers you to online videos on how to install the fan hardware, but does not give a url link to the appropriate videoe. Searching for the video shows that to connect the fan you need to connect wires from the fan to pins 0 & 14... but the fan already has a connector attached to the fan wires that are in no way compatible with either the board, nor can you connect the wires ( it does not say which). This kit is not worth tyring to work around all of the deficiencies in the instructionsDO NOT BUY... unless you like frustration

A nearly complete package, but heat sinks are not included while a useless foam case is!
Great product grouping with one exception, the package does not contain heat sinks! Also, the fan is cheap and noisy. I replaced with a whisper quiet fan for 10 bucks more Heat sinks in all chips are necessary for a RspPI implemention in such a small case. One other issue is that there is a heat transfer drop sink built into the case for the CPU. Which is okay, except that it is much more effective to remove that (saving money) from the case and providing a multi-fin heat sink for the CPU instead. I don't get it because it would actually be more profitable to lose the case sink drop and include a package (their own brand) of chip heat sinks!

fantastic kit for beginner
This is a great starter kit that comes with everything to get started. Excited to have a Raspberry Pi 5 kit. Everything is just as shown in the photos. The board matches the parts and markings on the official photos. The included card is SanDisk. The card includes the OS, but you can reformat the card and install an OS from scratch if desired. They included a Quick Start guide and a reference Pi Rule card with wiring info. You can get up and running quickly with this kit. I didn't have the time or want to part out a starter kit right now, and this works well for what I need. I'll upgrade an accessory if I need to or buy additional components later once I have put this through the paces.
