Has helped us tremendously
Amazing. Absolutely love this product. We have been using Calmkeen the last 2 months and just repurchased this. Let me give you a little bit of background as to why we had to purchase this: One of our cats survived a flood and was surrendered by her owner back to organization that she was adopted from. We had adopted her brother at the same time that she had been adopted. The organization called us wanting to see if we would take her in so that she could be reunited with her brother (they hadn’t even been apart a year). We were hesitant to take on a third cat but decided why not. When we adopted her, she had suspected pancreatitis and the most awful smelling diarrhea. For several months, we struggled trying to find a diagnosis and she was on expensive prescription food to help the diarrhea. She was prescribed a probiotic and the diarrhea would come and go but would never actually go away. About 6 months into this, we were starting to go crazy because of the smell and obviously how uncomfortable she was to constantly be grooming due to the diarrhea. Our vet recommended a different type of probiotic but said if it didn’t work this time, she would need an intestinal biopsy soon. Before sending us on our way, she asked what her relationship was like with the other 2 cats. I told her she got along with her brother but not her sister. Our vet suggested we also try Zylkeen and see how that worked. We did. It has now been 3 months into Zylkeen for the first month and Calmkeen for the last 2. The changes have been incredible. The new probiotic helped initially but we have been able to wean her off the prescription food and the probiotic and her stools have remained solid. She seems happier, more relaxed, and is so so loving. It’s like she’s finally able to be who she is supposed to be. As someone with a background in counseling and psychology, it has absolutely blown me away that I wasn’t able to pick up on all of this being a behavioral issue. We spent thousands of dollars on trips to the vet and medications when that wasn’t even the issue. I am so incredible thankful to the creators of Calmkeen because at the cost of Zylkeen, we wouldn’t be able to afford to give this to her on a daily basis. I’m hopefully we will be able to wean her off of this and get her on a semi-regular dose but we will see. So far this is working. She has gone from being aggressive and frightful (she used to have to be handled by 3 different vet techs and muzzled at the vet) to being a social butterfly when we have guests and actually allowing us to pet her. One criticism I do have is that some of the pills in the last container I bought appeared to have opened in transit. It wasn’t many of them but I do hope our next shipment won’t have this issue. The pills are clear and smaller than Zylkene but not difficult to open. If you have arthritic hands, you may struggle to open it in comparison to Zylkene but scissors can get the job done. I just pour it over her wet food and she doesn’t seem to notice. Thank you Calmkeen!!

NOV 2023 UPDATE FROM MANUFACTURER RE:WEIRD CONSISTENCY
UPDATED REVIEW: I spoke with the creator of Calmkeen (it’s no huge company, just him and his wife). He said he’s aware of the consistency changes in a few recent batches of Calmkeen, but said it’s just a higher moisture content and will not harm our animals. He apologized that it’s caused fear and concern. The effectiveness and safety of the product remains high. He, too, is frustrated by the difficulty getting the powder out of the capsule. He noted that his more recent batches are fine, as were the larger dose capsules (which can be split to fit your usual dose) I was encouraged by his candid answers to my questions. He seemed sincere and empathetic to my concerns. I’m now not hesitating to use this batch of Calmkeen on my pets. ORIGINAL ONE STAR REVIEW: Nov 2023 Amazon is currently shipping defective Calmkeen. Capsules should be solid white with no gaps or stripes (you can see that problem in my photo of the capsules). Instead this bottle’s contents are off color and look like moisture has contaminated the powder inside the capsules. It should pour out of an opened capsule smoothly and instead this batch dumps out in clumps! I would not give this to my pets for fear it is contaminated and will make them sick. We will go back to buying the 2-pack of Calmkeen from a different, more trusted/reliable seller.

Total game changer, life saver
I adopted 3 feral cats 11 months ago. Two of them adjusted to being house cats beautifully, but my third boy was an anxious wreck. Even after months of living together, I could not even bend down to pick up his food bowl without him running away. If I walked vaguely in his direction, not even with the intention of interacting with him, he would hiss and run away. I started him on 75 mg of a competitor's product, but after a month I didn't notice any changes. Then I switched to Calmkeen due to the lower price, also 75 mg to start because I don't know his current weight, and after a month I still didn't notice any changes. I honestly considered euthanasia because of course there is no way I could ever put him back out in the street, but I hated seeing how miserable and anxious he was all the time. I felt he just didn't have any quality of life. In a last ditch effort I bumped up his dosage to 150 mg/day and after 8 weeks I am so happy to say that he is a brand new kitty. He has started playing with his toys. He doesn't immediately run and hide if my neighbors play their music too loud or he hears a loud noise from outside. My very favorite change in him is that he's actually started approaching me for affection, he rubs against my legs now, lies down at my feet for belly rubs, and I actually get to hear him purr every single day. He has purred more in the past week than in the previous 11 months I have lived with him. I am SO grateful for this product for helping him finally enjoy life. He's still a little bit skittish and he definitely spooks more easily than his siblings do, but that's okay. Just the fact that I can see him finally experience moments of happiness and peace makes me cry actual tears of gratitude. As for the product itself, I give it to him every morning along with his other supplements (a multivitamin, probiotic, and L-lysine as per our vet's recommendation). I sprinkle the capsules into his supplements mixed with 2/3 of a Churu. The capsules open easily. To be honest they don't mix quite as well as the competitor's product I tried, but it's really not a big deal and he eats up everything voraciously. He actually rubs against my legs every morning while I prepare his meds, so he doesn't seem to mind that it's a bit clumpy. I did NOT notice any changes in him until about 8 weeks after I got him on the correct dosage for his size, so I'm not sure how effective this product would be for a single one-time stressful situation like traveling or a vet appointment. But, my vet told me it's safe for long-term use and I can promise you THIS WORKS- but, it doesn't work immediately. At least for my cat, he needed time for it to build up in his system. Perhaps if your cat is less anxious than mine was, they might experience an immediate benefit from it. If you have an anxious kitty, I implore you to get some Calmkeen, give them the correct dosage, and give it a fair chance to work. I would love to be able to wean him off of this one day, but if he has to take this every day for the rest of his life, that would honestly be a small price to pay for his continued happiness. Thank you, Calmkeen, for giving this formerly feral kitty a chance to have a good quality of life.

Cat allergic
I can't technically say anything negative about the product itself but found my cat is allergic to it within 4 days. She developed a bad rash around her back end that resulted in excessive licking which made her raw with all the fur gone. It was alarming to see that area so exposed and raw. Took her to the vet and was prescribed probiotics and a topical that cleared it up within days. She didn't take it long enough to know if it worked. My other cat wouldn't take it.
