Is this product loose in the bag or vacuum packed?

Red Star should arrive vacuum packed which will keep the yeast fresh. I had one bag arrive with the yeast loose inside and though it still worked it seemed to have lost some strength. You want it to arrive vacuum packed.

If the package arrives with a past expectation date or torn can it be returned

Ask Amazon for that one, but it should be allowed.
