Does this product work?

Yes it works and looks good but the bottom plate doesn’t stay on very well after extended use and it causes the laptop to heat up sooner than normal

Is this for the model of macbook rpo that has a cd drive? does this case have a cd drive cut out place?

No this does not have a CD drive cutout. This is specifically for the Macbook Pro with Retina, which does not have a built in superdrive.
