Scandinavian Film Noir at its Best - Danish / Swedish with English Subtitles
This series is just brilliant - my wife and I are watching it for the third time. Great to have the entire series of 4 seasons all in one set. The DVD's play fine, though expect a bit smaller display than HD widescreen. The faded color scheme is intentional and part of the production. The subtitles are easy to read and I would never watched a dubbed version of anything, much less this masterpiece of a crime drama. I want the real Saga and her own voice. She's unforgettable, as are all the characters. Best watched in the dark months of the year.

Wonderful!
What a great series. Having watched it on MHz I was delighted to find it on DVD which can be played in the American format. I adore Saga Noren, the chief protagonist, a by the book cop of the Malmo PD who is on the autism spectrum. Sofia Helene who acts as Saga is absolutely great. Good dialog, action, settings and the English subtitles are excellent. I would rate it as atleast PG-13 because of the sex, nudity, gore and violence.Watch it! You won’t regret the hours spent on binge watching. The equivalent to this series are the Wallender shows ( NOT the bbc version but the original Swedish).

Outstanding Nordic Noir classic
I liked the american remake a lot, but this original version is a must see. Sofia Helin's acting as Saga Noren is incredible. Saga is a totally fascinating character like no one I've ever seen before. The series overall is outstanding - good acting, directing and cinematography. We watched it originally on MHz Choice and decided that it was a "keeper". Bought the DVD set because we will watch it again many times in the future.

Stunning
"The Bridge" (Bron/Broen) is deeply psychologically gripping from the intricate storylines in the foreground to the interpersonal relationships that lie beneath. Sofia Helin ("Fallen" & "Atlantic Crossing") as Saga Norén delivers the performance of a lifetime, with a strong supporting cast including Kim Bodnia ("Killing Eve" & "Pusher") and Thure Lindhardt ("3096 Days" & "Keep the Lights On"). "The Bridge" is not just a crime drama that crosses a bridge between two nations but one crosses the boarders of who we believe ourselves to be and who we truly are. It is a visual and artistic masterpiece. One caveat for those that have watched one of the many many rip offs of this original that have popped up around the globe. What you have seen is the equivalent of a "Doors" cover band in a bar is bar in Detroit in 2024. This original series of "The Bridge" is akin to seeing the "Lizard King" at The Whiskey in 1967. A truly untouchable original.
