This kit provides everything you need to make the full project, with extra tools and supplies left over when you are finished!! The instructions in the included book are clear and easy to follow, if you are familiar with patterns. If not, there are video tutorials from start to finish. I did have some trouble loading the page from the QR code, but if that happens, just keep refreshing, it will eventually open properly. The instruction book can be kept and added to your stash! The yarn is comparable to a prominent brand that starts with a W but is a lighter weight (just as good though)! The value of this kit is better in my opinion, because you get scissors and two projects (the animal and the berry). The W brand costs $25 for a single project, no hook, no scissors, no instruction book. You have to pay $5 for the hook and $5 for each accessory kit if you want them. So this kit is DEFINITELY worth your money. I also think the projects are more detailed and cute as well! For instance, while I love the W brand kits, the designs are mostly egg shaped with ears or arms or wings, depending. My only complaint is that the metal of the hook I received was a bit scratchy (the same can be said for most hooks I have received with W brand kits. You can either file the hook with soft grit sand paper, a wool sponge, or use your own hook. The hook in my photo here is my own plastic hook in the same size the kit came with. They were able to follow the video instructions (this also comes with a QR code for video instructions) and was able to complete this product within a week (working a little each day on it). Once they learned the basics and terminology the rest was fairly easy. It is super cute with a lot of leftover yarn so a second (or maybe third) one can be made too. I asked what they thought of the process. They said it was fun as a complete beginner but would not recommend to anyone under the age of 12 to do all on their own.

This was a good kit, but I don't think it's easy for beginners. This was my first time crocheting, and I was confused. I had to play the instructions video on 0.25 speed and multiple times to follow it in the beginning. The instructions videos website was also pretty frustrating to use for me on my iPad. But the kit was complete, and the finished product was super cute. Although I didn't make the bamboo, just the panda.

Great kit for beginners! Excellent yarn, accessories, and instructions. Pattern is easy and fun to complete.

**Update: I started doing another Mewaii crochet kit and the instructions and videos are much better than what came with this strawberry cow kit. No logo blocking video instructions and more detailed instructions including colored print to see different stitch techniques in the instruction book pictures. I would definitely purchase more Meiwaii kits if they are like the new one. Just not sure how to tell if you are getting a newer kit or an older one like this cow. ** This was my very first time crocheting and using a crochet kit. Overall I think it is a good option for someone looking to learn how to crochet and make cute animals considering the price point compared to other starter kits. This would be great for someone who already is experienced and doesn't need to watch parts of the video on repeat to figure out certain techniques. The reason I gave this 3 stars instead of 4 stars is that the strawberry cow videos are not edited very well. For example: while following directions to make the head near the end of the final rounds the video suddenly shows the safety eyes on the head the person is working on. So I checked the book instructions and it said to attach the eyes between rounds 10-11 so I added the eyes by finding a video by another popular crochet kit company explaining how to do the eyes. Then at the very end when I was putting the whole cow together with all the pieces, the video instructs you to place the strawberry eye patch on the head BEFORE attaching the safety eyes. So I'm probably just going to leave it without the strawberry patch or come back to it when I get better at crocheting to try to make a strawberry around the eye. The videos are difficult to see clearly sometimes as there is a logo over the video which doesn't move when trying to get a clear picture of what the crochet instruction is. Doesn't affect it a lot, but a few times I needed to see what the instructor was doing and the logo was covering the exact spot. Additionally, some parts of the video instructions briefly say to repeat stitch technique for a certain amount of rounds and then jumps forward to the next round that has a different type of stitch. So be sure to pay attention to the videos or double check the book instructions. I was following the videos step by step and missed it a few times where I was supposed to repeat stitch rounds several times. Overall not a bad option for a beginner or someone with crochet experience wanting to make an animal. However I think if I was learning for the first time all over again I'd opt for one of the other crochet kits that is a lot more expensive and starts with a "w" based on the online videos I found from them to help explain the parts I didn't understand with the Mewaii videos. Would have saved a lot of do-over time but I guess I did save money! I had already bought a few other kits from Mewaii before starting this one so I'll finish those up and post reviews for each if I find them to be better or worse than this experience.

I'll be thrilled when done!!

This was my very first crochet project, the instruction videos are clear, easy to follow. Good for beginners. The quality is good, just wish it could be cheaper price.

Wir wollten unserer 8-jährigen Tochter ein schönes Geburtstagsgeschenk machen, hat sich aber leider als eine Enttäuschung entpuppt. Sehr teuer, sehr kompliziert und vor allem keine Anleitung auf Deutsch! Nirgendwo gab es einen Hinweis, dass die Anleitung ausschließlich in Englisch stattfindet! Vollkommen ungeeignet für unsere Tochter! Fail!!!

War viel zu schwer für ein Kind. Wir haben es nicht einmal zusammen mit der Oma geschafft, die Schildkröten fertigzustellen.

Extremely cute and fun to do. Only issue is that the quality of the yarn is not the best.
