Who knew that square roots could be this easy?
Very good book for those - like me - who can't really do math in our heads! Lots of examples, and most of the explanations are simple enough to follow... even for me, albeit with a few exceptions where I really had to puzzle it out. You can't skim it - you really have to read the steps and it's necessary to start at the beginning and go from there. I did learn a few tricks that I will be teaching to my kids! I had NO IDEA that there were such simple ways to do square roots! When I was taking my GRE I wondered how ANYONE could figure out some of the more advanced questions. Now I know. I wish I had known about this book then! The good: Step by Step instructions! Practice problems after every new concept is introduced! The bad: Sometimes the instructions are bit confusing, so I had to rely on the sample questions and answers to make sure that I had understood correctly.

Great book. Really helped develop my math-fu
Great book. Really helped develop my math-fu. The only things I didn't like about it were the use of Indian terms.Instead of using a term like "remainder" for a number left over after division, they'd use the Indian term Navasesh, which was confusing. I'd have to go back and look up what the terms were as I'd constantly forget them, while doing mental math. That being said, I've bought this book five times because I keep giving it away to people who's kids need these revolutionary math skills. Worth every penny and then some.

FUN BOOK WITH VALUABLE TECHNIQUES IN MATHEMATICS
I LIKE THE BOOK. THE AUTHOR USES SOME LANGUAGE FROM HIS NATIVE LANGUAGE THAT IS HARD TO PRONOUNCE FOR AMERICANS, BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO LEARN TO PRONOUNCE THEM TO LEARN FROM THE MATERIAL. I JUST SKIP OVER THOSE WORDS AND GET ON TO THE NUMBERS. I LIKE HIS TEACHING TECHNIQUE FOR SOLVING CUBE, AND SQUARE ROOT PROBLEMS. I WAS NEVER GOOD AT THAT IN HIGH SCHOOL -- NOW I CAN DO THEM IN MY HEAD QUICKLY. THERE ARE OTHER EASY TO LEARN THINGS I HAD FUN WITH. I DID NOT FIND THE MAGIC SQUARES OF MUCH INTEREST, BUT SOME PEOPLE MAY. AT THE PRICE I RECOMMEND THE BOOK.

A gem
Just as another reviewer has said, this is a gem. It contains all you need to do efficient calculation with numbers either on paper or in your head. The book also contains a lot of cool tricks, like how to multiply quickly by a series of 9s, by 11 and others.Cons: Small quibbles: The presentation is a bit old fashioned, one has to read the text carefully and get used to his notation. The book uses a lot of Vedic Hindu terms which are a bit strange to the European ear. If you spend some time with the text, as you must to develop proficiency, these annoyances disapper. If you are serious about learning to calculate effectively Vedic is definitely the way to go. It's still work but in most cases a lot less than conventional Western methods but most importantly it provides streamlined techniques that are easy to manage, much easier to do in your head, more reliable and provide useful estimates of the result before you have even finished the calculation.Knowing how to multiply and divide by two numbers is all most people need to do in their daily life. It's all I need mostly and I am a scientist who works with numbers all day. On the rare occaison when one needs more, pull out the calculator. This is something anyone can learn to do quickly and reliably and even in his head if he practices. And if you do want to become a human calculator these are the techniques most experts use.

Nice Cookbook on Vedic Mathematics
I own several books on Vedic Mathematics including the classic by the Late Puri Shankaracharya (Venkatrama Iyer from Tiruchi, Tamil Nadu, India in his earlier life) himself, and I find this book a gem. I would highly recommend this cook book to anyone interested in learning Vedic Math - cookbook style. The recipes are crisp and to the point along with a lot of practice exercises.

What are those little squares?
Note. Never use raster graphics in kindle books for critical examples. I think the content of this book is probably well worth the read but I can't tell because the examples are all raster graphics and can't be resized in the kindle reader. I am unable to read the examples because they are so small. Had the author used text examples or vector graphics for the examples then they could be resized and would be usable. Unfortunately, all the examples are completely useless and so you can't follow the book. You could use the desktop reader and probably see the examples but I don't use that reader.

Most Comprehensive Book on Vedic Mayhs
I find the vedic method in this book easy to follow and the explanation very easy to grasp. This is the perfect book for students, teachers and people going for competitive exams. One best thing I want to point out is that while practising the exercise given in the book I was not getting the right answer so I contacted the author, he was very prompt in answering my doubts. I am very grateful to the author for helping me and writing such a good book.
