I purchased the Syncwire Optical Cable to replace an older cable that no longer met my expectations. I wanted to maximise the quality of sound from my Sonos TV soundbar. This cable fits the bill and yes it works perfectly. I plugged it into my TV's optical digital audio output port and then into the Sonos digital input port. The cable is a good length and (much better than my previous optical cable which was too short) and long enough (with extra) to reach my soundbar. The sound difference is immediate. I stream music directly to the Sonos soundbar from a NAS and it sounds very good. The TV audio from my Sky box to Sonos sounds much better than it was previously. I recommend this cable for anyone who wants to use an external speaker on their TV sets.

I have purposely taken a long time to review this cable, as I had been having trouble with my old one. I thought optical cables would all be the same, but how wrong I was. My old one was purchased from a well-known computer store, and was gold plated, so thought it would be perfect. However, after a while I noticed something I didn't like about it. It was used to connect my new large TV to my soundbox. The problem was, when viewing a film on Netflix, the volume was greatly reduced, and I had to increase volume to 40, which only then enabled me to hear all the quiet conversations in the film. As it was the first optical cable I had ever used, for ages I put up with this because I thought that was the way these cables worked. So when I saw this Syncwire cable on offer, I decided to give it a try just in case. I was amazed at the difference. Immediately I found I had to turn the volume right down, and could still hear everything. I have the volume set at about 18 now, and the sound is perfect. In order to be sure it was not just the fact that it was a new cable and would change later, I waited months testing it before I felt I could recommend this Syncwire cable. I am extremely pleased with the quality and performance of this cable, Highly Recommended.
