This thing ROCKS!
Wow! This is great! This is our third Roomba. We have owned a 300-series, a 600-series and now the i7. The i7 is head and shoulders above the others. Improvements abound. We did not buy the tower that allows the i7 to empty itself. We thought the filters required for that unit were too expensive to justify the expense. You're going to have to empty *something*... the tower just alters the frequency. Neither the size of the i7 dust bin nor emptying the dust bin on the i7 has not been a problem for us.What I like:*Mapping - My i7 learned the floor plan of my house (hint: use mapping runs to do this quickly). I was then able to adjust the dividers to represent the rooms and hallways in my house. I was able to designate areas to avoid (where the i7 had difficulty, such as near the pet food bowls) and places where we needed focused cleaning. Then I created jobs to tell the i7 where to clean and when to clean. We have high traffic areas cleaned three times a weak and other areas cleaned less frequently.*it's easy to create ad-hoc jobs. Click the New Job button, select the rooms to clean, and go!*It works while we are not home. And the app gives us progress updates. While the unit is the quietest Roomba we have ever owned, it can get annoying after 30 minutes or so. We frequently start big jobs when we leave and monitor them while we are away.*It does a great job with pet hair. We have two pit bulls that live in the house. The i7 does an excellent job of picking up pet hair on all surfaces. After the initial curiosity about the device, the dogs pretty much ignore it now.*It works well on all of our flooring. We have tile, carpet, and hardwoods. The i7 does an outstanding job on all these surfaces.*It can pause a job, recharge, and pick up where it left off.*I prefer the cleaning pattern on the i7 over the previous models. The i7 uses consistent rows as opposed to the apparently random motion of the older units.*It is gentle with our furniture. The i7 is probably the best robot vacuum we have ever owned with respect to protecting furniture and baseboards. The sensors and cleaning logic seem to be much improved over the other models I have owned.Overall, a great investment. I would buy it again.

It's just NOT what you expect...
I was really excited to get a Roomba for my new apartment and it is something I've wanted to purchase for some time now.I decided to spend a bit extra to get a nicer model with a few key functions like the ability to control it from an application and schedule by room. I've used this feature a few times and it's amazing - being able to just clean my kitchen while I'm lounging in the living room, or clean my bedroom while I'm making dinner - It's awesome!However... This Roomba is just not what I expected, especially for the price, wow.First of all, this thing runs in random circles around my spaces - it swears that it follows some planned path but it runs into everything most of the time and hasn't learned very much apparently.Second, and my biggest complaint, is that it gets stuck, on EVERYTHING. Rugs, Chairs, Barstools... the list goes on. Not only that, but it will make an aggressive effort to climb over or on something that it shouldn't and gets itself stuck then weakly spins it wheels before complaining that it needs help.I'm frustrated and disappointed that even though I just arrived at work, I have already received a notification that its somehow stuck. I have walked around with this thing 5+ times to see where the problem areas are and I just can't win.I've had to block off multiple sections of my place because it gets stuck on the tiniest of chair legs, and even sends a cliff alert only to be found resting on the edge of a rug????????? That's ridiculous. For nearly $600, I wish I had purchased a Dyson hand held that would do a quick and thorough job. - like wow the regret is real with this one. This thing spends more time getting errors and "stuck" messages than it does actually cleaning my apartment. It also leaves bits of debris everywhere - including bits of paper and such that you think it wouldn't have any issue at all picking up.Really disappointed... We have a really long way to go with these robot vacuums, they're just not very good yet.Ps. The "Rate Features" function is useless. Sure, it has good battery life and works with Alexa, but it can barely do a full run of my apartment without errors and getting stuck or missing sections.Update:I have never had such a frustrating and disappointing experience from a piece of technology this expensive. These are so unbelievably unintelligent it boggles my mind how they’re advertised. If you enjoy spending the amount of time it would take to vacuum your place cleaning up every little thing on the groundI have never regretted buying something more than this. I would have been better of spending the money on a hand held Dyson and spend 20m vacuuming vs the 1h 30m this thing takes running into walls, getting stuck on the smallest things and going back over things 4-5xThere are many things that have benefited from automation, and vacuuming is NOT one of them.
