Was lose on my MTB seat post, but I got it to work..
I often take my Mountain bike to run short errands and take a backpack to carry my lock and whatever I am picking up on my errands. The main reason I ordered this lock is because of the holder that attaches to the seat post. It is a clever idea and very easy to release the lock with the push of the release button. My mountain bike must have a skinny seat post because the holder did not fit without using both of the shims included plus another piece of an old innertube folded in half. Once I got it thick enough for the holder to stay in place it worked great. There are arrows on the side of the holder, but no instructions to say which way they should point. I am not sure it makes a difference though to the functionality of the holder. The two bolts provided were too long for my application and may scratch my legs when riding or mounting the bike, so I found some shorter ones and used the provided nuts. The lock itself is of decent quality and should provide at least a small challenge to anyone trying to steal my bike. I like the little slide to cover the keyhole, which should help to keep moisture and dirt out of it. The cable is a bit short, but it will be able to go around your frame and back tire and maybe a bike rack frame as well. The cable itself is pretty thick so it does take some effort to uncoil it.There is a thin strip of plastic with a tab on it that you will need to remove in order to clamp down the holder. For less than $10.00 this is a decent lock and the added carry bracket makes it convenient. I would not trust this lock for long term security, but quick trips to the store or grab a coffee type stuff it will at least be a deterrent. ..

Anti-theft device
A cable lock is good to use as a bike theft deterrent. I have purchased other products from ROCKBROS for my bike, so I was pleased to find this affordable bike lock. As soon as it arrived, I could see it was worthy of a 5-star rating. It is sturdy, yet also lightweight. The steel cabling has a thick outer PVC coating, which both protects it from the elements, but also serves to protect your bike from being scratched or damaged. The mounting bracket is a convenient feature - it keeps it secured to the bike without it rattling around loose somewhere on the frame, or having to stow it in a backpack to carry it with you. I also prefer keys over a combination. One note: make sure you are okay with the length - it is just over three feet of cable, which can limit your options as far as what you lock it to. Also, if you are looking for something with the security of Fort Knox, you will want something more substantial (and therefore more pricey). But for the price, this bike lock can't be beat.

Interesting space saving post mounting system
I picked up this cable lock because one of my two cable bike locks is too thin, and the other is thick but too long to carry with me in any of my frame or saddle mounted packs (6-footer). This one is thick enough to do the job but short enough fit on the bike and due to the post mounting system it won't take up any space in a pack and can be set up in line with the bike frame to help with wind resistance.Pros: Thick enough to do a pretty good job securing my bike. Can mount to a post without taking up space in a bag. Has a quick release button for detaching from the mount. Holds it's shape for compact storage whether it's mounted behind your seat or stored in a trunk bag. Keys make it easy (so you can't forget your combination and you don't have to learn to set a combination)Cons: It almost feels a tad bit short, due to the strong, formed coils in the cable. The lock feels like it is made out of plastic even though the insides are made of metal. There is a little room for expanding the size of the tube mount, but not much. If you planned to attach it to the frame or elsewhere on the bike, instead of the seat post, you'd have to make sure it would fit, first. My take: It's thick and safer than my usual lock that I pack with me which fits in my saddle bag, so I'll use this one on my road bike for shorter rides to stores and coffee shops, where weight and storage space aren't that important, but security is. I'll save my thin cable lock for major mileage events and keep my huge 6-footer to reach the tie downs in my truck for transporting.I would recommend this lock.I hope this helps!

A well coated bike lock cable
I have had a few similar cable locks with mounts in the past and wanted to get another. Overall I think this item is a great value at just under 8 dollars as I'm writing this review. It has all the features I want in a good cable lock. These include: A little sliding cover to protect the key hole from dust/debris and to an extent moisture. A locking tab on the mount to keep it from sliding out A second key for when you eventually loose one. The keys appear to have a complex pin arrangement. On this lock the keys have a cut in groove instead of teeth which I can't really comment on that being better or worse than keys with teeth. I just know a more complex pattern helps a little to increase security from picking. The plastic jacket protecting the cable seems very flexible and durable and has a nice darkened coloring to it.the one sort of negative I noted is it seems you could put the lock into the mount from either direction and even though it has a directional arrow on the mount itself. that just seemed funny to me.
