Holy cow!!!
Alright, now these were literally just delivered about 20 minutes ago. However, I've been waiting so long to get a chance to try them out, I had to go ahead and test them.First thing I noticed immediately is the outside of the pens have an amazing texture to them and I love it. Very nice. After I swatched every pen, I have to admit that I am so very impressed!! I literally cannot believe how incredibly smooth they feel when you use them!!! I have never experienced any kind of pen that delivers that level of smooth writing ever! No skipping, no dragging - nothing but exceptional performance. The cardboard thing they come in says on the back that they are able to stay out without the cap on for around 12 hours, and that is amazing. Obviously, I seriously doubt that I will ever try that out to see, but still thought I would mention it.I do a lot of zentangle and abstract fineliner art and, believe it or not, I actually tend to use the bolder pens most. So I'm always looking for a great set that includes some of the bolder nibs on them. This set has 4 of those, one of which is the biggest I've seen on these kind of pens - a 1.2mm. Never thought I would say something like this, but I am 100% in love with this set of pens!! Now, obviously since I just got them, I can't speak as to just how long they will last, but I will try to remember to update this a month from now and let you know how they are doing. All in all, I'm so very impressed with these, it's crazy. I've purchased about 7 different brands of fineliner pens on here and while the majority of them perform practically the same, I've only used one brand that has really stood out and I've purchased more than once (Ohuhu). But after these, I have to say, I do believe that these are a lot better than those. Especially when it comes to just how smooth they perform. Definitely recommend them!

My favorite liners
I love Staedtler liners and prefer them to the more hobbyist-standard Micron pens or the more scratchy and difficult to control tech-style pens. The ink takes a moment to dry so be careful not to smudge, though I find these smudge less than other pens. The larger sizes do put out a higher volume of ink and therefore take longer to dry. I like to use these with alcohol-based markers for a tidy, graphic look, but they also work quite well with watercolor. I'd advise against trying to use them *over* colored pencil or wax pastels or crayons as the wax in these tools can make it difficult for the ink to stick and it ends up smearing or just not coming out properly. The wax can also clog the tips, so just generally I do not recommend that combination. They don't work super well for going *under* wax tools, either, as the wax-based color tends to obscure the lines. It depends on what look you want though. They are, however, especially with the varied sizes in this pack, great for ink work on its own, provided you take care not to rub your hand over the area you just drew on immediately afterward, and give them a few minutes before running an eraser over them (erasers tend to smear long after your hand does not) if you have a pencil sketch underneath. You can achieve interesting effects by smearing larger areas of ink with your finger intentionally, though your fingers will get quite dirty... one of the only downsides of these, that they tend to leave you with a lot of black on your hands even if you don't smear them at all. The danger of any art is, of course, getting dirty.. or maybe it's a benefit. These are my favorite pens to ink with, and I've never had any package arrive with the pens dried out (unlike other pen brands I could name). You can get them in any decent art store but they are, of course, much cheaper on Amazon, and if you have Prime can be obtained nearly as quickly as a drive to your local Michael's. I will always recommend these to any artist regardless of their level of experience.

Staedtler versus Pigma- I Have Thoughts
I’m picky about pens. Not that I do anything professionally with pens, I just like to write, and so I’ve always considered myself something of a pen freak. I don’t know enough about pens to give solid recommendations on what to get and what not to get, but after using these Staedtler pigment ink pens I can surely say they are the best fine-nib pigment pens I’ve ever used.Naturally the comparison will land against the Pigma Microns. I’ve written with both of these pens quite a bit now across a variety of uses. After this experience, I have to say the Staedtler pens just feel better. The Pigmas have a scratchiness to them that is hard to describe. It’s almost as if the nibs “bite” the page. These Staedtlers do not bite at all, even the 0.1 nibs. Personally, I’ve found the 0.2 nibs to be perfect for most of my uses.I highly recommend these if you’re on the fence about the Pigmas versus the Staedtlers. Both are good, but these have a quality to the writing experience that feels more fulfilling.

Needs too much pressure while drawing
In about 14 days I noticed all 5 pens had the same issue. Started to fade (had to apply more pressure on each stroke) in just a couple weeks. This is the deal with all pens that came in the box.

They last forever!
These pens are lightweight and can be easily stored in a shirt pouch. I primarily use them for handwritten letters, but I am uncertain about their durability for artistic purposes. However, I believe they will meet expectations. They are compatible with a wide range of paper materials and do not cause smudges. I have owned these pens for eight years, and they are still in excellent condition. The pigmentation has not faded either. I purchased a different brand of pens for experimentation, but I was not satisfied with their opaque appearance. I highly recommend this brand. It has been my go-to choice for all my stationary needs. Additionally, I would have appreciated the inclusion of a plastic storage container, similar to those provided with other Staples purchases. Undoubtedly, it is a worthwhile investment.
