Sky-high adventures, as Sodor welcomes Carly! When Thomas innocently mentions that a new, shiny crane is set to arrive on Sodor, Cranky worries that he will be replaced. His fears increase with the arrival of Carly, the new crane, who is eager to begin work! Cranky tries his best not to be... cranky! But soon the two cranes are trying to outdo each other, until a tangle of hooks leads them to realise that working together is always best. Meanwhile, there is more crane trouble for Harvey, plus Philip discovers the meaning of his number 68 and Diesel s new friendship gets off to a bumpy start! Review: High flying adventers with Thomas and Friends - Being a huge Thomas and Friends fan I was pleased to have this my collection as it has some of my favourite episodes from seasons 21 and 19. First in Cranky at The End of The Line: After Cranky starts creaking the engines tease him saying he is getting old and he worries the Fat Controller will replace him and tries to work harder than ever but ends up causing confusion and delay and Thomas and Edward are sent to the Mainland Dock Works and come back with a big new fancy crane. Next in New Crane on the Docks: New crane Carly is excited about starting her first day at Brendam Docks but Cranky is annoyed that Carly is doing everything while he just stands around and tries to work faster then her but ends up stuck when both their hooks get tangled luckily Salty is there to remained them that it is better to work together and soon both cranes are work together as one. Then in Stuck in Gear: Harvey the crane engine gets a branch stuck in his gears after clearing the line of a fallen tree but instead of asking for help he tires to sort the problem himself but ends up in more trouble and derails luckily Thomas comes to the rescue and takes him to the Steamworks and tells him that sometimes it better to ask for help when you need it. Next in a Most Singular Engine: Diesel is fed up with Daisy the diesel railcar who keeps boasting that she is the only unique engine on the whole of Sodor but after hearing Thomas saying Harvey the crane engine is the only unique engine on Sodor Diesel starts spreading rumours which causes trouble between Daisy and Harvey. Then in Springtime for Diesel: Diesel loves bumping into other engines and this makes it hard for engines to make friends with him and when Diesel bumps into Daisy and causes her springs to give way and has to be taken to the Dieselworks will Diesel apologies and learn to change his ways? Next in Den and Dart: Best friends Den and Dart enjoy working together as a team but when Mavis the quarry engine has an accident and has to go the Dieselworks to be repaired Den is chosen to work at the quarry while Drat helps with the repair work on Mavis will Den and Dart be able to mange with out each other for one day?. Finally in Philip's Number: Some engines on Sodor have a unique number such as Toby is 7 and Thomas is 1 but Philip the diesel box-cab wants to know why he is number 68 and this leads to a heroic rescue when 68 sheep escape and wander onto the mainline with Gordon coming with the Express. I Highly recommend this to any Thomas and Friends fans. Review: Big Mickey Spoke! - After a few seasons in the doldrums, Thomas & Friends started to reinvigorate itself from about series 17 onwards, so by the time we reach these episodes in series 21, the series was arguably the best it had been since series 2. Having been an avid viewer of Tugs in 1989, to have Big Mickey referred to by name - and actually speak - was hugely exciting. It's a pity he hasn't spoken since and the series has declined again with the samey worldwide episodes, but we can but hope one day the series can return to the heights of series 21.
