Cut and Paste: Science, Grades 1–3 from Teacher Created Resources (Cut & Paste)

....
Purchased this for add on activities for homeschool science learning. Liked these activities for my little one , however, there was a downfall to them, I wasnt expecting. I had to find a way to copy every other cut and paste page because if not then you couldn't do the activity on the flip side because you cut right into vital parts of the flip side cut and paste activity. As reprintables they are great but if you are looking for a "work in" cut and paste activity workbook without extra copies needing to be made, this may not be the type you are searching for. Other than that I have no issues with this book.

Great for Home School Students
I bought this for my 2nd grade son (homeschooled) as a way to review science concepts without the tedious writing that is usually required in most workbooks. He doesn't like to write a lot, so this book gave us a way to reinforce and document his mastery of the topics in a new and fun way. It's also a nice motor skills activity. I don't know that I would rely completely on this to teach the information. While it does include most/all of the concepts you'd want to cover in Science at this age, the information they give on each topic is very basic. I used this in conjunction with a more comprehensive textbook as a follow-up activity to the lesson.I agree with the annoyance over the front/back content, I had to make copies of many pages to get the pasted components. They probably could have designed the book better to account for that, since there is a page or two of accompanying text that goes with each cut/paste page. Had they put the text on the back of the 'cut' pages, it wouldn't have impacted the 'paste' pages. That's not really a reason to skip this item, just something to bear in mind when using it.There are other books in this series, I also purchased the Grammar version and it was just as good as this one. I'd love to see these books offered with more grade levels. In one year he's blown through the 1-3 level books and now we have nothing else to move up to. I wouldn't count on getting more than one year of content from any of the books in this series. They say Grades 1-3 but that's more dependent on what grade your child is when they are ready for this type of material, not that you will get 3 grades worth of instruction from them.

Good book
Definitely a great science workbook for kids. My daughter has learned a lot about the life cycle of different animals. She loves to cut and paste as well.

Different than expected, not activity book
I expected this to have tear out pages. It has front and back pages, so if you do one cutting activity you lose the other side. It must be designed to be copied? I expected to to be more like an activity page. Also, it requires a more advanced reading ability than I expected. It says grade 1-3, and it's more on the 3rd grade side than 1st. A positive note, there are many endepth teacher guides with recommended resources. I think it would be a great resource, in just having to use it get differently than what I expected.

Fun supplement to science lessons
I'm using this workbook as a supplement for my homeschooled 1st grader. Basically, I've put together a plan for science, and then flip through this book to find relevant activities that go along with my plan. My daughter enjoys the cutting and pasting, and I find the activities help to strengthen her reading skills. The one down side is that activities are printed on both the front and back of the pages, which means I have to photocopy any activities I want to use with my daughter. This results in a lot of paper and ink use, adding onto the initial price of the workbook. Since my daughter enjoys the activities supplemented to her more hands-on science lessons, I am still happy with the workbook. I just wish it were consumable as is, instead of needing to be copied to be used.

Made for making copies
It’s pretty good. I homeschool so I usually use books and let the kids wrote in them, but this one you must copy because the sheets require to to cut each page and each page is front and back... soooooo if you cut one side you can’t cut the other. It totally makes sense for classrooms of course! But if you were planning on using this the way I was, you’ll have to either just make the copies (which is great as you can resell the book later) or consider a different book for your child.

Great learning material
Great learning material however the pages are front and back so you have to make copies. Before you can cut and paste the activities.
