Superb Customer Service
Let me take a moment to give a real review for anyone on the fence about buying this product or similar. After a prior smart lock (not this one) left me locked out my home in the freezing cold having to decide whether it would be cheaper to pay the locksmith quote of $200 or just break the door or one of my windows---I looked around in depth for my next lock, vowing never to be locked out again. This ULTRALOQ U-Bolt Pro lock is where all of the extensive research and reading of reviews led me. I ordered it primarily for a couple of features that were upgrades to my previous lock--first and foremost the USB where you can charge the lock from outside in the event the battery ever runs out while you're outside of the home. Secondly, I really wanted the auto unlock feature through the app/phone as you approach the door. It was easily to install, and for those who've installed locks before, it's the standard quick installation--nothing complicated or unique. While everything worked well and was easy to set up, I initially had an issue with the auto unlock feature not working as anticipated. (which again, was one of the main reasons I purchased this lock). Let me tell you, this company's customer service is through the roof top tier excellent. Unhappy about my feature not working--I vented and made a post in the community forum on their website, not even asking for anything, just venting. Well, they quickly responded and were suddenly emailing me really wanting to help resolve the issue for me. Ultimately, they sent me a replacement part, which did require uninstalling the previous part to install the new part---but I could appreciate that they were being proactive and checking in on me every step of the way. (and again, the installation was so easy in the first place that it wasn't too involved to replace.) Well let me just say, that did the trick and I am now consistently enjoying arriving to the home where the door has already unlocked for my approach. Great product, with a great team behind it. Initially I was going to give 4 stars for having the snafoo and needing to replace the part, but I think superior customer service to resolve an issue for a customer should be worth all 5 stars as well! (Bizzare things happen with all products sometimes, it's how a manufacturer responds that is remembered most)

Different models?
Update 6/21/21 Just purchased a 3rd Ubolt Pro but this time with a WIFI bridge. The dead bolt on this new one is phyisicaly different from my other two which suggests this company is continuing to improve on there product.. Connection through internet is not the fastest but so far reliable. Fortunately for me since purchasing this 3rd Ubolt I found that my 2nd Ubolt that had the constant blinking when unlocked was actually a malfunction. Blinking while unlocked should only happen when auto lock is enabled. (Doesn't state this in in manual). I suppose this explaines why that Ubolt's battery wasn't lasting long. That lock was fixed by a manual firmware update that was provided to me after I inquired about the lock's blinking behavior. I no longer use these in Stand Alone mode. They are much easier to manage using the app. My 2 older locks are going strong and I am hoping this new one will do the job just as well. Ultraloq customer service is quick to respond even though it is through email. They have not had any trouble resolving any of my issues. Great product and company! Update: 1/6/21 I wanted to wait a bit before updating to make sure the replacement part held up... So a little over 1 month after installing the flat buttoned version it failed. The fingerprint reader died but the physical buttons and of the key still worked. I sent a warranty repair request via email to the company and recieved a replacement part within a few days to a week. Response time was quick and painless. So far so good with the replacement fingerprint reader. Ill keep updating if anything else goes wrong. ------------------------- Original review: Its such a good lock I bought a second one. To my suprise the second one is physically different. There obviously has been a hardware update. But there is no mentioned of it on the manufacturer's website or the Amazon website. I included pictures of both locks. I'm assuming the lock with the indented inside handle and clear plastic number buttons is the older version and the one with the flat inside lock handle and black rubber numbers is the new version. Both locks are packaged with the same clear button version pictured on the box. Aside from the physical differences they also have firmware version differences. The clear button lock has a version number of V1.51 and the black rubber button is V1.55, both show to have the latest firmware when using the phone app. They work the same on the app and in standalone mode. The only functional difference I have noticed is that the black rubber buttoned lock flashes a red light every 3 to 5 seconds when in the unlocked position. The clear buttoned one does not flash its light when left unlocked. What interested me most was the finger print reader which works incredibly well and fast. I primary have these locks on standalone mode and have no interest in remotely unlocking from my phone, but I did play with the Bluetooth phone app and it does work fast and easily works within 30 feet very reliably. I really wish I knew there were two different versions because I do like how the other one flashes while unlocked. It is hard to see the lock position at night with dim light due to the whole thing being black but the red light makes it very clear it is open. I am hoping both versions of this lock are equally durable and last for many years, only time will tell. Over all at the moment I feel this is a good buy no matter which one you end up with.

high quality and durable but DIY install and adjustment can be complex.
This digital lock is both high quality and durable. I have had one on the front door for about a year and just purchased one for may back door. While I use all the features, I find myself utilizing the keypad most often, more so than the fingerprint or phone unlock options. I've had varied installation experiences: I successfully installed one myself (DIY), and had a professional install a second on the back door. The DIY installation is effective but requires patience due to its complexity. One of the more challenging aspects is installing and "training" the open/closed sensor. However, once this feature is correctly set up, the functionality is excellent—it's truly "absolute magic." The ability to control the lock via Alexa has also been a nice, convenient feature.

Good WIFI Lock
Lock had some great features but a few things that may need to be changed. Fingerprint biometric security - One of the primary reasons I purchased this lock. If your read the instructions it's easy to set up. Also the log feature letting me know who comes in and records it The WIFI was easy to set up. Just add you user name & password The lock its self was easy to install. But the sensor was tricky as most doors have trim and had to cut the trim to mount the sensor, The dead bolt itself was the trickiest it's self bought 3 of these locks. you have to get them so lined up straight so the lock works smoothly. They also if not lined up they Jam. The Pro model dead bolt latch was messed up and jammed many times I worked hours to get it to function smoothly so it would lock on it's own. Ended up using the Schlage dead bolt latch that I had. I drilled holes out so the bolts would fit. and just like that. It worked prefect. Locks on it's own and I had it working in minutes. This I think is the main problem with this lock. It jams and you have to make sure it's lined up straight. But better yet if they had Schlage make the dead bolt latch it would be the perfect lock so This is why I give it 4 stars. If you have a Schlage latch in good shape you may want to think about using it or your might have to return it. I almost did. but after trying that it fixed it 100%. I like many of it's features. Make sure you have your bottom lock hold the door tight so the WIFI lock can lock perfectly every time. Bottom line is it's a good lock for the money, It is a little bulky and in certain doors it wouldn't work. Went with the level lock brand for the other door. And all three of my locks had troubles making the latch work smoothly one so bad I changed the latch. Sensor too was not very clear in the video as how to mount it. So this is why a 4 star. The app works pretty good.

Amazing Customer Support
So much trouble with this lock. Purchased in April 2024. Worked for a while but lost fingerprint connection. Had to redo several times. Stopped unlocking with the code. Batteries say medium but wouldn’t unlock until I put in new batteries which had been changed a few weeks ago. More trouble than this is worth. If it acts up again I will be looking for a new lock! 10/2/2025 - update: customer service did reach out to me after seeing my negative review. They sent me another lock. So after uninstalling the lock not working and installing the new lock they sent I’m sad to say that this one is worse than the one I uninstalled. Auto lock on this one does not work at all which means that the door remains unlocked when we think it locked. This product just isn’t with the trouble we have been through installing, uninstalling and installing again to find it still does not work as advertised. Time to look for a new lock. Any suggestions??? 12/14/2025 ~ Just an update on my review. Although I had nothing but trouble with this lock, the customer support and service is amazing make the purchase of this lock worth it. Since I still had trouble with lock number 2 (it would not auto lock), they sent me another lock. I installed it (I've become a pro at the installation after installing two others), and amazingly enough it works perfectly. I am able to unlock the door with my fingerprints easily, it is auto locking perfectly and even the sensor is working. So from one star I would like to give this lock 5 stars. If you have any issues with installation or use, just reach out to customer support. They will be there to assist you!

Frustrating for so many reasons
Update: After posting this review, U-tec reached out to me via email and asked for one more chance to make it right. They actually said they would "do whatever (troubleshoot, replacement, etc) to solve the problem for me ASAP." I researched the locks they have and I knew I wanted a matter certified lock since the connection didn't work with my homey pro. I requested their new lock that has this and UWB. They responded that they're not able to give me this lock. This is the 2nd time I've requested a different lock (a different lock each time) and a 2nd time I was told no. Why did they reach out and commit to making it right if they refuse to do that?? They didn't offer anything else and they only seem to respond by email at like 3am. Their customer service has promised great service but they refuse to even stand behind their product that I've only had 6 months. One of the more disappointing and frustrating experiences I've had in a long time Original review: I've had this lock installed for 6 months. I'm a fairly big smart home enthusiast and have tried connecting this device through an Amazon Echo, SmartThings, and IFTTT. I even have Homey Pro, which connects to virtually everything but I've had no luck getting this lock to consistently work. Installation: Thankfully no issues with installing the lock and for the first month or so I'd say it worked exactly as I expected. Complaints: It started by my door not auto locking. So at random times I would check my front door or leave through the front and the door wasn't locked. This was not a previous issue so I wasn't sure why it broke. I pulled up the app and discovered the lock was no longer connected to Wi-Fi. I have a Gateway Eero Pro 6E router, as well as 2 mesh Wi-Fi extenders plugged in to ensure there are no weak spots or issues with coverage. I have cameras installed further away above my garage and a bird feeder in the middle of my backyard that don't that any issues with a great connection. Despite trying repeatedly for months I've been unable to get the Wi-Fi connection stable. That's means the lock is reliant on Bluetooth. I would try for sometimes an hour or more a day to find work arounds or a different solution. I would hide the 5ghz bandwidth so only 2.4 was visible but it didn't make any difference. I tried removing the lock and re-adding it and no luck. Finally I factory reset it and once I did that the U-tec app couldn't find the lock any longer. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, the lock, and other apps to control the lock. At this point I had no ability to control the "smart" lock. I reached out to customer service who insisted I try all the same things I already had. I requested they send me a new lock but they instead offered to send the interior portion of the lock. They promised I'd have it within 5 business days. I received the lock after more than 2 weeks. I installed the new part and the app was successful in finding my lock. Unfortunately it still wouldn't connect to the Wi-Fi I have a long running chain open ticket with customer service. I requested they send me a new lock or a refund. They tried to continue troubleshooting with me, even asking me to disable my WPA3 setting on my router, which reduces the security of my network. I told them no and again this time requested a new Ultraloq model that is matter compliant and is the exact same cost I paid for this lock. I was told no. I asked for a refund so I can look for a better lock elsewhere and was told no. I reasoned with them that if they would give me a solution that works I would stay a customer but otherwise I would have to find a new brand with a better product. They refused again. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they refused to accommodate my request. So now I know no other option than to buy a new smart lock and forfeit the $150 I wasted on Ultraloq, not to mention all the hours and frustration. One thing for certain, I will never buy another product from them again.

Long lasting battery WiFi control and easy setup make this lock a top pick
We installed this smart lock at our front door and I’m impressed with how secure and convenient it has been. My husband did the install himself and found it straightforward with clear instructions. The fingerprint reader works within seconds, the keypad responds well, and the app is intuitive enough for anyone to use. The app is easy to use, simple to understand, and everything is laid out clearly so you never feel lost. Because you get full WiFi access (not just Bluetooth) you can lock or unlock the door remotely, which has been a big plus when we’re away. I also use it for my Airbnb houses and the remote control is extremely helpful for guests. It makes it so easy to give every guest their own personal code and change codes between stays without any stress. Another thing I really value is how well it handles weather. One of my locks is under a small porch roof and the other is fully outside with a short awning, and both have held up perfectly. Rain, heat, sudden temperature changes — the lock has stayed responsive and stable through all of it. No issues with the keypad, no lag, nothing sticking. It has been reliable in every season. One of the features I value most is the battery life. According to the manufacturer the lock uses four AA alkaline batteries and claims up to 6 000 accesses or about 6–12 months of typical use. In our home with regular daily use I change the batteries about every three to four months just to stay ahead — it feels like a safe routine and ensures we never get caught by surprise. Because it has many features (fingerprint, app, WiFi) battery life can vary, so using high quality alkaline batteries really helps. Helpful tip for buyers: make sure you select the WiFi-enabled model, not the Bluetooth-only version. If it’s Bluetooth-only, you won’t be able to use the mobile app for remote access, real-time notifications, or auto-lock/auto-unlock when you’re away. That difference matters. This lock has been reliable for us with keyless entry, multiple unlock options, strong deadbolt security, stable WiFi, and a solid daily performance. The fingerprint ID, anti-peep keypad, and the U-Tec app make the daily use simple and very dependable. If you want a smart deadbolt with remote control, weather stability, good battery performance, and an easy DIY installation, this one has worked great for us.

Does everything I expected it to do.
I'm writing this review a few hours after installation. The device works great and installation was straight forward. I did have some problems due to my door/door frame being old and having several modifications over the years. This resulted in a small mismatch where the bolt engages the door frame strike plate. The bolt had a slight drag/rub against the strike plate. Even with that initial problem, everything worked fine, but the app would indicate a "jam" when the lock changed from unlocked to locked. I could have ignored the "jam" warning but managed to fix the problem by filing the strike plate hole a little larger, so the bolt wouldn't drag along the strike plate hole. I live alone and wanted to be able to unlock my door remotely in the event of a medical emergency. I can now lock/unlock my door from my cell phone. My initial experience with the fingerprint reader is a 100% read accuracy. The pin code pad is flawless. The auto lock on/off feature is nice. And the phone app works well for me. I don't expect the mechanical key to see much use, but it's nice to have it as a back-up if all else fails.
