Simple, durable, sound is a little off
Fun, durable toy. The ejector blade is a little nerve-racking, but no one has caught it in the eye yet. Works as it should, except it is nearly impossible to get it to make the crashing sound. The humming sound is spot on, but when you hit something it is supposed to crash - this one does it about 10% of the time. Otherwise my son loves it. By the way, the Obi Wan one is blue, not red as shown in the pic.

Good fun for one!
Like all things good, this one is better when you got two - to spar, duel or simply go crazy with. But on its own, it is a great toy. Big, chunky and durable. The light effect is not that great...in fact, is quite dim...even in the dark...but for a 4 to 6 year old, who is not too discerning, it is the bomb! If you got a toddling Star Wars fan, this is the definitive toy, without breaking the bank.

Either this thing was defective or ...
I'm sorry, those raving about this product have very low standards.I have two big problems with this toy, which prompted me to return it rather than gift it to my son for his 5th birthday:1) The illuminating properties of this lightsaber were terrible. It was barely visible in what I would call a medium-light environment (inside, during the daytime) and in pitch black conditions all you could see were three or four rings and a very faint blue glow inside the saber.2) The sound performance was also lackluster at best. Regardless of how you move it, the lightsaber just repeats the same 2-3 sec. loop of whirring sounds. Then, if you hit something, it makes the clashing sound about one out of every five times. Granted, I didn't really whack anything with it, because I didn't want to break it prior to return. That said, I will say the product seemed fairly durable overall, and the spring-loaded extension feature is a definite step up from basic models, which tend to collapse themselves too readily. So, if the two issues I mentioned aren't important to you then don't hesitate to buy this product.

this is cool
I got these for a comic con costume that I'm not going to have. However, the sabers are still nice. The hilt feels a little large, but the spring action is cool. I haven't really played with them, I just took them out of the package to test out, and then put them back. But they seem solid enough for some light saber fighting; Ep 6 style, not Ep 1.They would serve great as toys for the kids, or for a costume if you don't want to pay for an FX blade, or want something that can actually be hooked on a belt. However, there is no hook, haven't figured that part out yet.All and all, very cool Lightsabers!!

Mixed review
I got this lightsaber as a gift for my son. Two days after I bought it, I got one of those e-mail promotions from Amazon listing this toy along with several similar items and the price dropped $30 -- What I just paid $89 for, Amazon was now selling for $59!!! This didn't set very well with me.As for the lightsaber itself, my 10-year old son loves it. However the SFX seem to not be working half the time he plays with it. He doesn't seem to mind and still has a lot of fun with it, but I'm pretty disappointed. I would expect the electronics to stop working over time with rough play, etc... but we've been pretty easy on it so far.I will not be recommending this toy to anyone.

Great X-mas present
I bought this for one of my nephews for Christmas. He loves star warz and called me saying how bummed he was because his old Lightsabor broke. So I bought him this one. He loves it & it still isnt broken. It was pricey but all the cheap lightsabors looked like they would break before they even got there. Go big or go home I guess.

4yr old son loves it
Realistic looking. The sound effect is great. My 4yr old son got a good use of it. It stopped working after a little more than a year, so he used it as a regular sword.

My Grandson's favorite toy
This was a big hit with my grandson at his 6th birthday party. His favorite gift! Everything works fine, but it's hard to get the blade back in. Just be sure you don't squish your fingers!
