Smooth, rich flavour without the caffeine
I’ve been a fan of illy coffee for years, and their decaffeinated whole beans have completely won me over for those late-afternoon or evening cups when I want the coffee experience without the caffeine jitters. If you’re looking for a premium decaf coffee that doesn’t compromise on taste or aroma, this is as good as it gets. The beans come in illy’s signature pressurised metal tin, which helps preserve freshness and aroma much better than most standard packaging. The tin looks smart on a shelf, and the pop you hear when opening it is always a sign of quality. The roast is medium, leaning toward the darker side of medium, and the beans have a lovely glossy sheen without being oily. The smell when grinding is rich and inviting — hints of chocolate, a touch of nuttiness, and a subtle floral edge. It's hard to believe it’s decaf just by the aroma alone. I brew mine with a bean-to-cup machine and occasionally a French press. In both cases, the results are consistently smooth, well-balanced, and full-flavoured. It doesn’t have that flat or bitter edge that many decaf coffees suffer from — instead, you get a rounded espresso with a soft crema, and notes of cocoa, caramel, and mild fruit. It works wonderfully with milk — in lattes and cappuccinos it holds up well without being overpowered, and in an americano, it remains bold but not harsh. Even when taken black, it remains mellow and enjoyable. One of the key highlights is how smooth it is — no harsh bitterness, no acidity overload. It’s ideal for people who love coffee but want to avoid caffeine for health or lifestyle reasons. In terms of the decaffeination process, illy uses a natural method that retains much of the flavour profile of their standard beans. I’ve compared it side-by-side with their caffeinated version and the difference is subtle — the decaf is maybe slightly milder, but still very much in the same premium league. If I had one tiny complaint, it’s that it is a little more expensive than other decafs on the market, but you’re paying for consistent, premium quality. For me, it’s absolutely worth it. In summary, illy’s decaffeinated beans deliver the full-bodied, smooth flavour that coffee lovers crave — without the caffeine. A fantastic choice for any decaf drinker who refuses to settle for second-best. Highly recommended.

Smooth Operator – Mild, Fresh and Great for All-Day Brewing
Having switched from illy’s pre-ground version to these whole beans, I’m now completely sold. The Classico medium roast is smooth, mellow, and has just enough body to satisfy without ever tipping into bitterness. It’s exactly the kind of coffee I can drink throughout the day—stronger in the morning, gentler in the afternoon, all just by tweaking the grind. The aroma when opening the tin is heavenly—that warm, rich, slightly floral scent instantly upgrades your kitchen into a mini Italian café. I use this mostly in a filter coffee machine, and the result is always a clean, consistent cup with subtle notes of caramel and citrus, just as the label promises. Speaking of the tin—it’s well-sealed, keeping the beans fresh for longer, though the initial opening can catch you out. It’s a pressurised pop-top, and if you’re not careful, you might end up with a mini coffee explosion. My tip: open slowly, on a flat surface, and savour that first burst of aroma. While some might say it’s a little pricey, I find it offers great value considering the quality, freshness, and flavour—plus, it’s consistently good across multiple brews and machines. Pros: ✅ Smooth, mild flavour – never bitter ✅ Fresh, rich aroma – especially on first open ✅ Grind-to-taste flexibility – ideal for adjusting strength ✅ Well-sealed tin – keeps beans fresh ✅ Sustainably sourced & ethically produced Cons: ❌ Pressurised tin can pop on first open – handle with care! ❌ Premium price point – but worth it for quality Final Thoughts: If you're looking to level up your home coffee routine, these illy Classico beans are a solid, reliable, and delicious choice. Perfect for everyday brewing and versatile enough to suit any time of day. Would I buy again? Already have.

Smooth, aromatic, and consistent every time
I’ve been using illy Classico Coffee Beans for a few weeks, and I have to say they’ve quickly become my favourite for daily brewing. The medium roast hits a perfect balance — it’s smooth, slightly sweet, and not overpowering. The aroma when grinding the beans fills the kitchen, and the flavour carries through nicely whether I make a Moka pot, filter coffee, or even an espresso. The beans themselves are high quality and roast evenly, so there’s minimal waste or burnt flavour. I enjoy the subtle chocolatey notes and the gentle, clean finish that makes each cup satisfying. For anyone who likes a reliable, everyday coffee that isn’t too bitter or acidic, this is a solid choice. The 100% Arabica blend feels premium but isn’t intimidating for casual coffee drinkers. Overall, illy Classico delivers a dependable, delicious coffee experience that I’ll definitely keep in my pantry.

Great coffee
Not cheap, the price of 1kg of coffee has gone up in the last couple of years, particularly the Italian supermarket ones such as Lavazza and this brand, I'm used to Lavazza but then I went on the Saudi Airlines and asked for an Espresso, they handed me a glorious espresso which was so strong it got me ready for action as soon as I landed! I had to ask on my way back what brand of coffee they used.. and it turns out it's this one! It's price is no less than Lavazza, but tastes great as well. I can not say its value for money, as only a year an half ago I was spending less that £14 for 1Kg and now I'm Forking out £23 for the same amout.. however the coffee is smooth, strength is perfect, aroma and colour are of good standard..
