Nonfiction Phonics Readers Set 2: Long Vowels, Digraphs & More (Single-Copy Set)

My 8 year old needed help reviewing the basic phonic rules. These books are perfect! He loves learning so these non fiction books are perfect to keep his interest. I have him re-read them and it builds so much confidence. The books are about 8 pages long. One or 2 sentences on a page. Perfect for improving skills without being overwhelmed with a lot of print. I'm going to order another set with R controlled phonics covered.

I gave this set to the Before/Aftercare at school (along with other decodable book sets) since they didn't have anything decodable for early readers and I've actually seen kids reading them, so I'd say it's a hit! The little books are not meant for the very beginning since they are not initially decodable if the child can only sound out CVC words like cat and top; these are meant for kids that are maybe a year or two into learning to read once they have learned about "magic e" and other long vowel spelling patterns (usually end of 1st grade/beginning of 2nd is when they learn these, but should be explicitly taught since they cannot be sounded out the same way as short vowels).

Phonics is the way reading is taught nowadays. I have a first grader. Of all the books my child has tried out so far, these have been the best. Highly recommended!

Kids love them, highly decodable, beautiful photographs on every page. High interest!
