great for prototyping
I used this to rough out a prototype for a stepper motor controller. I had a bi-polar stepper motor connected to this and it worked flawless. I like the options to change the individual settings, and there is a lot of them. I didn't get into many of these options because I got this working pretty fast with just the basics. The price is right to get yourself going with a stepper motor.

A working ZK-SMC02 stepper motor controller, without the hassle of any documentation
First off, this is a functional ZK-SMC02 stepper motor controller. It's the same as others offered on Amazon although the price being offered is a bit less here than for others. As is normal with these imported electronic devices, it comes with absolutely no documentation, which is the main reason I am not giving it 5 stars. Fortunately, it is easily discoverable elsewhere and I have included a link below. The setting of parameters for this device can be a bit clunky when you are first getting used to it, since you have to press and hold the potentiometer to put it into setup mode. Then once you select the setup function (modes 2 - 13), you press and hold again to select settings mode. Then you can adjust the various settings. The first setup mode, allow you to select how the controls operate the motor. You can move the motor by the potentiometer directly, or you can set it up to use the CW and CCW buttons to move and a predefined rate.Even the included documentation doesn't really cover how much voltage the unit itself draws, but with my 5v stepper motor, I needed to use a 12v adapter to have enough power to move the motor. This controller supports up to 40v, so if your motor requires a high voltage, you will probably be fine up to that limit. The various settings and modes can be reviewed by the link provided below.https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91s+3NPuv1L.pdf

Durable, easy to use, plug and play
The media could not be loaded. This speed controller works perfectly well. Just connected to my stepper motor and its controller worked just as I expected. Has a nice casing with snap fits to allow you to put into an enclosureHas a nice clicky knob as a bonus.Would work perfectly for making a simple conveyor or other mechanisms.

Tough controller works great 👍
Running a nema17 gear stepper 5 to 1 ratio. I tried and can't break this control. No heat problems at all. I'm going to use it in my servo driven variable displacement pump for precise dispensing of epoxy, urethane, and silicone materials.

Worked for a few minutes, continuously until it overheated and stopped.
Wired a NEMA 17 stepper motor to see if it worked. It initially did and then it simply stopped. No load on the motor. I like the control but the stepper driver failed. The vendor replaced it. I again tested it but monitored the heat sink temperature. The temp raised from 70F to 150F in 7-minutes of continuous, unloaded operation. I stopped the test before it burned up. Would be ok for light loads running short periods of time unless you fan cool the back side.

absence of user manual creates a problem
I don't want to return this item, but I need a user manual to set up parameters.Could I get a referral ?Thanks.MikeI received manual on the next day. Thanks for prompt answer. Item is great.Mike

I don’t get it
I have 5v 1.5 amps going in, the board lights up and is functional, but have no volts going out, no matter my settings. Stepper is a 4v 1amp six wire, I wired it both tapped and non tapped. Nothing. No power going out. Thoughts? I guess it’s defective.

Can not switch programs.
The media could not be loaded. Seems to do for the most part what it’s suppose to do. I can’t switch programs and go CW. A new one will arrive today.
