Simple very effective gadget, robust design, easy to store
Fantastic piece of kit, makes slicing bread so simple and so safe down to the last slice. Such a simple gadget yet so effective, I’ve never been too good at cutting straight slices of bread or getting the thicknesses right….this gadget allows you to select three thicknesses of bread, it has a safety feature which means you can slice down to the last piece of bread without cutting your hand. It contains a small bread board and catches crumbs, I love that it’s very simple in design and easy to store. Nothing negative to say about it - very robust, made of steel so it’s never going to break,

Easy slice
This is such a simple idea yet is possibly one of the best kitchen gadgets I’ve ever purchased. My home made bread has never been so easy to cut and each slice is perfectly cut into the required thickness. Buy this and you won’t regret it.

A different way to slice. With 2 small issues.
A different way of slicing but works well. Very robust. You do need a sharp, long enough knife. Only 2 small issues. 1. It slides around,I have to use a non slip mat. 2. No crumb catcher. They go everywhere.

Does the job
Really pleased with this. I bought to slice a whole loaf for bagging and freezing. It slices evenly and it's easy to use. It's neat and stands up on the work surface without taking up too much room.

Total game changer!!
This bread slicer is more expensive than some of the other one. But it is very good quality,so I know it will last and a total game changer for slicing homemade bread. And now I have straight sliced bread. No more doorstep wedges. Very easy to use. Easy to clean and store. Thankyou.

5 stars to start but hasn't last 2 years.
I have used this since October 2023. Cutting a loaf about 1 a week. . All Started fine and the it deformed. See photo. So it's been used for 17 months and has cut about 80 -90 loaves. The cutting guides seem just to thin. And that's not a lot of bread really . For the money though I might be tempted to buy another and replace bit in about 15 months time again.

Reservations
I ordered this item after my electric knife stopped working. I checked many such items out and settled for this one, partly because of the excellent reviews I read about it here on Amazon. The item arrived, as expected via Prime, the day after I ordered it, so no faults there. On examining the bread slicer, you can't help but be impressed by the quality. It appears to be very well made out of high grade materials and is exactly as described on Amazon.I make all our bread, most of it in an excellent Panasonic Bread Machine and I couldn't wait to try this slicer out.So, following the instructions, I cut a loaf in half and proceeded to slice it as described in the instructions (and on the referenced video.)The result, unfortunately didn't quite live up to my expectations, and the slices I managed to cut were dreadful. I put this down to the quality of my bread knife, which is old, but doesn't make anything like such a mess of cutting the bread when performed in the normal manner. However, I accept that using an old bread knife is not such a good idea, and so, following the advice that came with the bread slicer, a couple of days (and a couple of ruined loaves later, I decided to order, via Amazon Prime, (which I subscribe to largely to ensure worry free, rapid delivery) the "Kuhn Rikon Colori Non-Stick Bread and Baguette Knife with Safety Sheath, 40.5 cm, Brown" which is recommended by the manufacturer of the bread slicer.I was disappointed, on ordering this item to be told that the expected delivery date would be between March 27th and April 20th. However, because of the glowing recommendation I decided, in spite of wondering how such a long wait ties in with the Prime experience, to continue with the order. Some days later, I was grateful to receive an email which told me the good news that the item was now expected to be delivered by March 27th (ordered 9th March). I was even happier when my account informed me that the knife was due to be delivered ON the 27th. As late as this morning (27th), my Account happily advised that the item was to be delivered by 8pm tonight (27th) Though I did note it hgadn't been dispatched!)BUT, then I received notification that it was now expected to be delivered on the 10th April. At this point I cancelled the order. It is beyond reasonable to go along with the manufacturer's glowing recommendation of a product that seems to be as rare as unicorn's blood and so I am angry all around with this experience. I have, in the meantime, bought a new electric knife - which works fine by the way.Now that part is out of the way, and to return to the bread slicer, having spoken of the build quality, I now turn to its operation. My reservations here, are with regard to the position of the non-cutting hand, which obviously needs to be kept away from the blade, and for which purpose a small ledge is provided to rest the hand on, and which is fine while the bread you are cutting is reasonably thick, but when you are nearing the final slice, and considering that you need to press down to a degree, I have concerns that the hand a little too close to the knife blade for comfort, especially when the recommended blade is supposed to be ultra sharp. The one area which it does appear to be excellent, though it is still necessary to take extra care, is cutting crusty baguette style loaves horizontally.A safer procedure, I imagine, would be to use some kind of block - wood or plastic, to keep the bread safely in place while it's being cut, in order to keep the non-cutting hand well away from the blade. It would have been helpful if the recommended knife had been available within an acceptable time scale, in which case I could have determined exactly how safe or otherwise it feels.Bearing in mind the above, I would hesitate to give this item a confident recommendation, and I would certainly avoid ordering it before following the advice to buy the Kuhn Rikon Colori Non-Stick Bread and Baguette Knife, unless you are prepared to wait- in my case almost 2 months before it is available- pr ondeed if you have a very sharp bread knife or wish to buy one that is readily available. It is ironic, and not a little annoying that I bought this to be free of using electric knives, which apart from breakdowns in the past have served me well, but ended up having to buy another to cut my bread. This has not been my best Amazon Prime experience!

Best thing for sliced bread
I got one of the plastic guides first but it produced slices of different thicknesses so decided to invest in something a bit more sturdy. I also decided to purchase the recommended knife as you do need quite a long blade for spanning the guides.Delighted with the results. I thought I might find the horizontal cutting tricky, but it's actually much easier than vertical.I have the Lakeland Compact breadmaker which produces a 1lb loaf so I don't have to half the loaf for slicing as it's quite manageable.Three different guides, 1st great for sandwiches, 2nd for toast, 3rd for doorsteps! It's perfectly sliced all types of loaves. As its always being used, it tucks away nicely at the side of the breadmaker and doesn't take up much room.Just make sure to watch the video before buying so you know what you are getting and the technique you need to use.Wish I had bought it from the get go. It really gives great results. As its robust, I expect it's going to last (unlike the plastic ones).
