Is this a suitable grow light for aquatic plants?

Mine work great for all my plants so far. I have one on a 5 gallon shrimp tank, 2 on 10 gallon tanks and 1 on a 17 gallon, all plants are doing great. It will also grow algae really well so you will have to experiment with your light times. Just get the light that is sized correctly for your tank.

will this fit my 6.5 gallon fish tank?

It would depend on the dimensions of your tank. I'm getting the 15.7 in unit for my 10gal tank, I'm assuming you would at least be able to use the smallest unit in your 6.5 gal tank. Just decide where you would put this light, find a straight length on your tank or hood and measure. If you have 8in of space then the 7.8in unit "should" fit.

Are additional suction cups available for purchase? I need 6 total to securely mount under my coffee table aquarium glass top.

Will the 7.8 inch 6w be ok for a 10 gallon high bow front tank?

I initially bought the 11 inch for a generic top fin 10 gallon tank. It was ok, but was only lighting up the center like a spotlight, the rest was in shadow. I exchanged for the 15 inch and am much happier with it.
