Beautiful Green Kentucky Rye
I planted this seed after raking up all of the dead grass and then seeded the 40 sq feet by hand. Afterwards I placed top soil over the seed so that the birds wouldn't eat the seed. I watered the area every morning and after 10 days I could see the grass rising from the planted area. This grass is very green and is growing at the rate of my normal grass. It has been 3 weeks and I am still watering this area once every morning and it is growing very well. I still have 80% of the seed left and will use it in the early Spring on other areas in my lawn that require seeding. I would highly recommend this grass seed/fertilizer mix as I am very particular and want to make sure the new grass grows and looks the same as the rest of my lawn. Good luck!

Overpriced but works
Not bad, but overpriced and full of fertilizer in addition to the grass seeds. Yet it is cheaper to buy it here from Amazon rather than the local store. I have been using this brand a few others and have good green grass. In general, you might be better off to buy some brand that contains grass seeds only in the bag.

Decent Kentucky Bluegrass seed
This seems to be a good price for 7 pounds of Kentucky Bluegrass seed; even better than the bulk bins at the local farm store. In my ongoing battle to eradicate all the unwanted grasses in my lawn, I've used this same seed for several years now. Those pesky weed grasses need to be completely killed with poison (RU). This is good for reseeding the dead patches and overseeding the area to build a nice lawn.Plant when temps are cooler in the spring or fall. Kentucky Bluegrass seed needs a lot of water until established, especially during the first season. After the grass is more established, water only as needed to allow the root system to strengthen and grow, reaching deeper into the ground. Weeds always happen, so those are to be expected. This is a good product and I will continue to use it.

Water, Water & Water, or go with something besides Blue Grass
The grass is coming up, but slowly. Kentucky Blue takes a lot longer to germinate than most grasses, and during that time needs a lot of water. I overseeded my lawn and fertilized a week later, so that the old grass didn't grow and choke out the new seedlings. I wish I had waited two or three weeks, because the new grass is growing, but it has to climb up through tall grass. In the attached picture, I placed 10 seeds on a piece of paper towel. There are 6 seeds that germinated. KBG seeds are very small, so 60% of the seeds in a bag, is a lot of seedlings. The bare spots in my yard are filling in gradually. The new grass is still a light colored green, but I look forward to seeing it once it matures, and turns "blue". All in all, very satisfied so far.My process-Core aerator in two directions (perpendicular)Spead the seed using a rotary fertilizerv spreader (two directions)Watered 4 times a day for 10 minutesFertilized with "starter" fertilizer a week laterI did mow after two weeks from sowing seed, the lawn was just getting too tall.I am pretty sure that this is going to work out well. Product was easily within best by date, no regrets.Follow up,Now a year later, I am not all that impressed. Part of that is because the fall was very odd here (Northern Michigan) in 2021. Little snow, but cold and windy and very hard on young grass. A lot of winter kill all over the county, so I can't say the seed is at fault. However, the bag says 3 pounds, but 50% of that weight is filler/fertilizer, so I actually needed to double the amount of bags, inorder to have an acceptable overseed coverage. Just offering a "heads-up" if you decide to order this seed. I plan to overseed again this fall, but will be using a different bluegrass. The cost will be comparable, but the number of seeds will be doubled.

It worked for me (eventually)
Good price for the quantity and easy to spread, I just couldn't get this brand to grow for the life of me. I've purchased grass seed in the past (different brand), and it was much easier to grow. If it suddenly sprouts up, I'll return and update this review, but if after 3 weeks its still the same I'll just buy another brand and try again.UPDATE: I initially thought that I had expired or bad seed, but it is growing now. It seems to take a little longer to sprout, maybe it's the blue stuff they cover the grass seed in? Anyway, it took some time, but it worked for me.

I'm a horticulturalist and properly prepared the area that I seeded with these grass seeds. There was appropriate moisture for these seeds and the temperature was mostly in the mid 60's or a little above for over a month during the time they should have been germinating. Well over a month and a half maybe approximately 10% of these seeds actually germinated. I've read other reviews stating that they received old seeds, so I checked the bag for a date on these seeds. There is a paper label that was applied to the bag stating that they were test on March 2017 and to sell by Dec. 31, 2017. I guess you can print anything you want on a label and slap it on the bag regardless of it's actual contents. Now I've bought countless seeds of a large variety of plants for over 30 yrs. and the only time that I've experienced so low of a germination % result is when I've planted old seeds in hopes of some of them growing.I do not know actually know what the problem is going on with these seeds, it could be one or a couple of reasons these don't germinate, but with the results I got from the bag they sent me I would not waist my money on getting another one from this company.

Works great for MN!
Grows fast and repairs area like I had with grub damage. I love that is had added fertilizer to help the seeds take root. I will buy more when needed as this is a very reputable brand and it was way cheaper than buying at a store
