These shower rail hooks look well made and support my shower curtain very well. To fit these hooks I would recommend not trying to open them and force them over the rail. If you try this approach you run the risk of hurting your fingers as the hooks are very stiff. It is much better to loosen one end of the shower rail and pull it free from the wall. You can then remove the old hooks and fit the new ones in safety. Some people complain the hooks are noisy in operation, if you have a metal rail you are running metal on metal and it will not be silent. If you have a plastic covered rail the noise may be less, but the noise is not an issue for me. To fit the shower curtain the hook can be opened by moving the split section sideways rather trying to move it inwards which would be very difficult. The hooks have small crimped retainers which stop the balls being displaced and ending up next to the curtain, and so not doing their job. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it.
