Draper22493 Portable Oil/Fluid Drain and Recycle Container, 8 Litre, BLACK.

Be careful when changing engine oil because when I was about to screw the nut bolt in it slipped and guess what? it fells straight into the pan and then straight through the hole into the drainer so needless to say it was a pain to get it out... It may have been my mistake and definitely not the products faults but just beware because once it drops into the pan it will rolls straight through that tiny hole and you will be in trouble. Just move it out of the way when screwing in nut bolts lol.The drain pan is not the smallest because it can take up to 8L of fluid which is more than enough for any home DIY'er working on their motorcycle/car but it's quite flat and light (when empty of course). It should be big enough for most cars to do oil changes, manual transmission fluid changes, engine coolant changes etc. Also, It has a good place where you can screw in the petcock so it doesn't get lost.Not to costly but very useful product when doing any DIY servicing for your cars. Highly recommend it !

It does it's job

Does the job and seals well when full but I had an issue when draining the oil from my engine. There is no vent hole to prevent airlock when it's filling. The oil bubbled out of the funnel hole while the engine was draining as it couldn't get in quick enough and sealed this hole as the air was trying to escape. The funnel hole could do with being bigger to let the oil in quicker or a vent hole and plug fitted on one of the top corners. It does have 2 recesses (at the bottom on the picture) which look like they should have been vent holes but were never fitted.

My husband does all the work on our cars himself, having worked in the car industry most of his working life.He really likes this oil drainer and says the bung and drain hole are big enough that there shouldn't be a problem with air locks in the can (there isn't a separate vent plug) as long as the oil filler cap on the car is released slowly to make sure the oil doesn't come flooding out of the engine too fast.The capacity (8 litres) is plenty for most cars, and it makes an easy job of oil changes. Far simpler than using an oil pan then having to funnel it into the waste container. We've had lots of oil drip marks left on the drive when trying to use a funnel, what a mess. This is far better. 5 stars.

I bought the 'Car plan' oil drain can for myself. It is good, but the quality 'could be better'. So I bought this (for a friend/mechanic) as a present.It does the same job as the car plan one but is clearly a bit better quality. Plug threads are better and there is storage space for the plug whilst draining. If I had my life again I would buy this one for myself! (nothing wrong with mine: this is just nicer).This is also EXACTLY the same as the Britool Expert and KS tools branded ones (but cheaper as it says Draper). If you're a tool snob: take the sticker off (say it got wrecked through so much use) and no one will ever know it once said "Draper".

As long as you have a roll of kitchen paper to wipe up excess oil on the drip tray this drainer is perfect for interval oil changes on a 6 month basis, just take the oil to your local council refuge site and empty it there :), using this and genuine parts saves a fortune on dealer prices.

Fits nicely under a Honda CBR500R, which is a faired motorbike. Catches the oil well. Like others have said, cleaning the drain pan area can be a bit of a pain, especially as there is a recessed narrow trough round the edge. Also when the oil initially starts draining into the hole at the centre of the pan, some of it spatters back up as the pressure equalises between the filling drainer and external air.O-ring sealed caps appear to stop any leaks once oil has been collected inside. This drainer makes oil changes a lot easier.
