The SPD Pro has everything that the original SPD was missing. Some of what I found to be particularly useful: additional outputs, better software for managing and adjusting everything on the unit, more trigger inputs, and last, way more control over trigger parameters. Having dedicated outputs for backing tracks and individual triggers means way more control over the mix, and the additional trigger adjustments are a game changer. I was always annoyed by having to deep dive on menus on the original unit / the lack of capabilities on the accompanying software, but this thing avoids that altogether. Saves a lot of time. However, if you use the SPD exclusively as a MIDI controller, the upgrade may not be worth it.

This is the easiest to program pad from Roland. Loop feature has limitations but it’s workable. Love the all the sounds and ease of tweaking. Completely programmable for everyone’s specific needs. The interface makes programming super fast. Loading audio is fast and easy. Comprehensive MIDI routing, lotsa outs and ins.

This thing is amazing. So many features and function, it will take a while for me to learn it all. On my SPDSX I had problems getting the volume to work well with certain sound systems without having to boot the gain. Now I have headroom for days. Yeah it’s nice, but there’s one tiny flaw. YOUR OLD FILES ARE NOT COMPATIBLE. I basically had to set my pad up from scratch using the new computer companion software. The SPDSX PRO app does everything except save all files. But that can be with a usb stick direct to the unit. Other than those minor things, it’s great.

I liked every thing about it.

I use the Roland SPD-SX Pro mostly for backing tracks. i can create music and store them right on a USB drive and load them into the device quickly. If you use STEMS... it's so awesome. Excellent device.

It's all fun and games until weeks before the warranty a expires knob goes loose causing parameters to be changed every time you hit it, and then after waiting over 2 weeks to get it repaired the screen dies. All of this right before a big tour. Say goodbye to your backing tracks, click tracks, cue tracks and any other sounds and/or samples you had built your band's arrangements around. Had this happened only 3 weeks later, the warranty would have expired and I would have to pay for repairs out-of-pocket. Either way, I can't take it on the road because it won't be fixed in time and now I have to completely re-coordinate our entire show. Tens of hours in added work, and I doubt I can trust this thing to be reliable ever again. Thanks Roland! Change the name to the "SPD-SX Amateur" because if you rely on this thing for pro use, it will let you down right when you need it to most. Shameful.

Had a random failure where it would not turn on. Then it suddenly started working again. It was literally impossible to contact anyone. Seller refered to Roland, and they were no where to be found. But I am pretty happy with it. I'm just worried about keeping it after it failed.

Me gustó mucho que antes del tiempo acordado, su funcionalidad al 100%. Lo he probado por dos meses ya, y es súper transportable y es muy personalizable. Incluye software para descargar que hace la configuración más rápida y sencilla.
