Loved it!
Brother’s best friend plus grumpy sunshine? Yes, please! I absolutely devoured this book and can’t believe I waited so long to read it. With its intense plot and captivating characters, Twisted Love is a must read. Ava, our resident sunshine, hides deep pain behind her bright smile. She’s fun and flirty, but she’s no pushover. She stands her ground, even against the infuriatingly stoic Alex. And Alex…he doesn’t seem to like anyone or anything except Ava. Beneath his cold exterior and emotionally guarded walls lies a man shaped by trauma, who loves Ava with an intensity that’s both possessive and deeply moving. This story is fast paced, emotional, and full of twists that kept me hooked from start to finish. I loved every bit of it and can’t wait to continue the series!

so many thoughts
Ok. So this book series was all over TikTok & I finally caved. As per usual with this author, the book is well written the pacing is good, I liked the characters and even the plot itself was good…I’d give the heat level two chili peppers….But the believability of the the plot twists eek. It’s in the details where it all falls apart for me. -SPOILER-Ava Chen’s bother is going away for a year so he asks his best friend of 8 years, Alex, to watch over his sister. Within 2/3 months they fall madly in love. I wish we had felt them fall in love not just had a few movie nights and a few bouts of jealousy then boom life altering love. But ok. During this time Ava recovers her repressed memories of her dad trying to murder her. Supportive Alex seems to have everything in place to bring her dad down. We find out later why he’s so prepared but still-It’s a little like an infomercial during the scene (insert eye roll here) but wait there’s more! First he surprised the dad with- you’re being recorded- and your son has been secretly watching, AND the fbi is here-boom case closed. You’re going to jail. Just cheese city the way it all played out. Thennnnnn Alex finds out after 10 years of planning the ruin of the man who killed his family it wasn’t him at all! Again. We needed another murderer in their midst? Is this a mafia romance? No.Ok. Fine. Cut to a kidnap scene in which Alex presses the number 1 on his phone (discreetly of course) and instead of the police showing up 10 minutes later- it’s a “clean up” crew mascarading as police and ems crew. Sorry. Don’t buy it. Again I’m willing to jump the hurdle to get to the next point in the plot. And the author must have felt the same way. I picture her on the computer like” ugh. How is Alex going to get away with MURDER in 1 page or less”. He then breaks up with Ava (for her protection of course) and really hasn’t this excuse been used enough? It never lands well with me but again. Ok. Then we wait 5 months. 👀 my patience level is zero at this point, but im sticking it out for my hea. He finally comes to his senses and tells her he loves her but of course he broke her trust and she “just can’t” cause as a reader we haven’t been tortured enough apparently. So she makes him wait A YEAR!!!! That’s not even the most unbelievable part of the story. He waits for her every morning with a coffee and walks her to work for a YEARRRRRR. Never once touching her. He walks her to and from work every single day. In another continent. Doesn’t work. Doesn’t have friends. No family. Lives his life solely hanging on these 30 minitues per day 5 days a week he gets with her? Major ick. It doesn’t sound romantic it sounds pathetic and I just could not. A year? He ate dinner alone for a year, spent Christmas alone? Wandered the city aimlessly all day just waiting for her FOR A YEAR?? no vacations, no purpose, no friends, no conversation, while she went out with friends and had a fullfilling thriving career? The wieght of being alone for a year isn’t stated at all in the book. It glosses over how this man went a year without a single human touch. It may seem romantic to some people but killed it for me in a big way. I will probably read the whole series cause I’m a masochist apparently, and I have to see things thru. The friend group each gets their shot at love. Hopefully theirs is less painful and a little more believable. It was a quick read, maybe 3/4 hours total? Enjoyable enough, but I probably won’t be in a rush to read this author again. After this series hahah.

Great Start to New Series
The Twisted series is well-loved and super-hyped. So when I originally started reading Twisted Love months ago, I was so disappointed in the beginning. The MMC had such a chip on his shoulder. I didn’t care for the FMC, and her "operation emotions" were childish. The story was boring, and I just wasn’t into it. I put it down and didn’t pick it back up. That is until some of my coworkers were raving about it, and I finally decided to give it another chance. I’m glad I did! Twisted Love turned out to be a super sexy, twisty love story. I had to eat my words. Once I started it (again) and got further in, I couldn’t put it down! I loved the chemistry Alex and Ava had once they got together. The way Alex could understand the struggles Ava was going through mentally and with her family. The way he cared about her, and only her… hot. I really liked Ana Huang’s writing style and the twists in the story. The spicy scenes were well-written, and I was engaged throughout the book. Now for the parts I didn’t care for. Coming in at Number 1 was the “grand gesture” at the end. It was SO cliche and so out of character for Alex. I saw it coming a mile away and was displeased while reading it. However, as most romance novels go, they are works of fiction, and you just need to roll with it. So roll on I did. The number 2 spot goes to how the end dragged on. There are two pretty big climaxes in this story, that I thought would be the end, but then I noticed I was about 60-70% in. While I’m glad Ava makes Alex work for it and doesn’t just run back into his arms, the story went on too long. Overall, I liked the writing style and the main storyline. The spicy scenes were spicy, which is what I was looking for ;). While there were some parts I didn’t care for in this book, I still want to read the rest of the series!

A Must-Read Grumpy Sunshine!
I just finished reading Twisted Love, and seriously, you need to check it out. It's a fantastic contemporary romance featuring the ever-popular brother's best friend and grumpy meets sunshine tropes. While it kicks off the Twisted series, it totally works as a standalone read, which is great. Plus, it's available on Kindle Unlimited! The story features a brooding, alpha hero who ends up living next door to the light-hearted heroine (his best friend's sister!) to keep an eye on her. Let me tell you, the chemistry between this dark, tortured guy and the sassy, romantic heroine is absolutely off the charts. You can't help but cheer for them! This is quickly becoming one of my favorite books by this author. The spicy scenes are fantastic and really enjoyable. The plot moves quickly, and the side characters add some fun entertainment. If you're looking for a steamy, angsty grumpy sunshine, I definitely recommend giving Twisted Love a read. I'm already looking forward to the next book!

Strong believable characters, strong love story, once you start you won't be able to put down!
Ava and Alex are wonderful together and the chemistry is very hot. Both have messed up families and the families and the relationships within in them define this story. As in the title things are very twisted and though this is a romance there is a mystery element as well. Author Huang leads you down the path which you just have to follow as the couple falls in love and then when it all breaks apart. My favorite part of the story was Alex coming to grips with his love for Ava and how he wins her back. Secondary characters play a strong role and I look forward to their stories! Well paced and well developed, you won't be sorry reading this story and will want more, I did!!!

Twists and Truths revealed with a love story.
*Spoilers* 4 stars 4 spice level First book by the author. Was a great read. Hate that I waited so long to read it. I am glad I finally did. I would recommend it. Ava finds herself in an unfortunate place when stranded after a photo shoot. Ava calls her brother, Josh, to save her leading to him sending his best friend, Alex, to save the day. Alex is as standoff-ish as you can get it. The night this takes place is the night before Ava's brother is to leave the country for a year. Alex not only has to save Ava then is asked to watch over her for the next year while Josh is out of the country. Over the next few weeks, Ava and Alex develop a more twisted relationship. She gets under his skin the more she is around. He drives her crazy with his attitude and overprotectiveness. Alex and Ava engage in some mindblowing sex that also leads to feelings, because why not. As the story develops Alex is closer and closer to the successful completion of a revenge plan developed not long after his parents and sister are murdered that he witnessed There were two twists that I didn't see coming, one of them I did have suspicion, but oh well. It still got me in the end. Ava deals with childhood flashbacks that lead to dark family secrets being revealed. Turns out Ava and Josh's dad, Michael, was a business enemy of Alex's dad. He led Ava and Josh to believe that her mom tried to drown her when they were kids after a divorce. Ava stayed with her mom and Michael took Josh. When the truth comes out it was Michael who tried to drown Ava because she was not his biological child. Her mom cheated on him. When challenged with this, Micahel revealed the truth while the FBI and Josh were listening. Later Ava and her friend Bridget are kidnapped by the true person who murdered Alex's family. He was led to believe his whole life it was Micheal. He originally only became close to Josh to get closer to Michael to watch his plan of revenge and gain intel. Turns out it was Alex's uncle. His dad's only brother. The uncle was upset that Alex's mom turned him down and told her husband of the uncle's pursuit of her. Of course, Alex acts like Ava means nothing to him. That she was all part of the revenge plan. Alex had found the truth before the kidnapping. He was going to confront his uncle. That plan went to hell and a handbasket. Anyways, Alex hurts Ava's feelings. Alex and Ava end that night. Alex wakes up though and puts all energy into winning her back.
