Kool Stop Brake PAD THINLINE Threaded Salmon , 71.8 mm

I recently upgraded an old cyclecross from the 70’ but the dia compe brake pads were too weak and I was afraid to ride fast. These new pads are very impressive and I kinda dig the salmon color

These go on every bike i own day 1. They are the best. There is nothing better. Well.....they were better when they were cheaper but i guess thats my only complaint. Fantastic pads.

I've used cool stops for decades on road, cycle cross and other bikes. Simply the best rim brake pads ever designed. As long as I use rim brakes, I'll use cool stops.

About these brake pads because my brake pads were breaking off small flakes of aluminum and embedding in my brake pads. I read an online article that said salmon colored brake pads would fix the problem. The article was correct, these brake pads do not break off small flakes of aluminum off of my rims. The only reason I gave it four stars is that I've had a hard time stopping brake squeal. I've had to shave away part of the pad with my knife and set what seems to be a proper angle. And for the most part, my brakes no longer squeal except for when I come to a complete stop. Even then the squeal is very minor.

I upgraded the pads of some new Tektro Oryx cantilevers I purchased recently and the difference is night and day! Excellent modulation and response. Not only do these pads make the bike feel better and stop quicker, it’s definitely more confidence-inspiring to use what is now a much safer bike. If you need to replace your brakes, consider swapping the pads if everything else is still functional. And when testing, keep your rims clean and the pads toed in very slightly. This should help prevent squealing in dry or wet conditions.

Not sure why it gets the great reviews. I had cheapo brakepads before and thought why not try these, since I do ride in the rain sometimes. But they started squeaking after a few months, not sure why.

Cool stop orange is and has been my go-to for V Brakes or Cantilever brakes, and after putting a new set on my bike, they still are. Great stopping power and excellent brake modulation, i.e. brake feel.
