Fabulous!!! I really liked this book. Am now going to reread it again and highlight. Full of good, down to earth, common sense ideas for helping couples in their heated discussions. I really like how Les says that if you take divorce out of the equation, then you both will work together to find a solution. Divorce was never on the table for us and we have been happily married for the last 40 years. I bought this book because I heard Les on the Dave Ramsey show and liked what he had to say about marriage. A definite read for couples in any stage of their marriage!!!

Accurately and compassionately describes dysfunctional ways of communication and how to improve them. Useful for all 4 fight types--conciliatory, collaborative, competitive, and cautious. It taught me a lot about myself and, I think, will help me be a better husband and parent.

Backed by research, lots of short but sweet and very wise quotes, content very practical And easy to follow enjoyed it very much

Great book and app - really gave me some real insight into my own behaviours as well as to the more mysterious aspects of my partner's! Some fabulously grounding quotes from other people throughout reaffirming that relationships is where the rubber meets the road. Also found the content applicable to other relationships, not just with my intimate partner. I wanted to give it five stars, but chose four because I wasn't quite sated by the time I finished the book - I wanted more!!!! Some areas were covered only lightly, and I think some greater depth would have satisfied my reader hunger, for example, the stages of relationship. I think the authors could have doubled the size of this section with some more explicit connections back to earlier sections to really reinforce their key concepts. Looking forward to the next edition!!!

This is an excellent book about how to communicate and resolve issues in a marriage. The book is full of practical ideas, examples and goes beyond the argument to building strong emotional bonds with your partner. A simple formula for communicating anger is given, the xyz formula, suggestions for deep talking points, chore wars, saying sorry, sharing daily high and low, sharing withholds good or bad and many more useful tools. The app would be the bomb if my husband could get his to work properly. The app provides principals in the book and how to execute them when your are in need of guidance. It also mechanisms to send messages to one another and journal together. Highly recommend.

Great content but the app takes some getting use to. Not all the references in the book work on the app and it can be disappointing.

Really thankful I read this book. It beautifully highlighted how important conflict could be managed and show the authors drive behind why it is important to pursue peace especially with our spouses. So glad I came across this book

The DVD is only an hour long. It's a good intro to the material. If you have a resistant spouse that will not read a book, you might be able to get them to watch the DVD and get talking about things. So, it's useful for that. But if you aren't dealing with that scenario, I'd say it's an unnecessary purchase (which if you and your spouse fight about money... might be worth thinking about).
