One of my friends grandpa used to use the same watch... And my friend very well connected to this watch... It has nostalgic value...

My father-in-law has had this watch for about 10 years. About every two, I have to change the battery (he is 96 years old and changing the battery is really painful surgery). For him, this is a great watch. It comes with a flexible metal band that holds up great and fits his thin wrist. It has a large digital screen with a back light so he can easily see the time. It has plenty of features (which he simply ignores), and I only have to reset it for the semi-yearly time change (it doesn't auto change). Changing the battery is a real challenge. Now that I am 70 with shaking hands and failing eyesight, it is proving to be more than I am willing to expend. The last two times (2 and 4 years ago) it took me about 3 hours each time. One year he snuck off and paid a jeweler...it was over 20 bucks, so I buckled down and did it myself the last two times. This time when the battery died, he passed it to me asking me to change it out. Still had a replacement battery and took off the back and then took off the watch cover retainer. Never could get the screws to go back into their holes...and I knew I still had to short the two terminals once the new battery was installed to get it working again....I simply gave up and ordered a new one (SAME MODEL) from Amazon. It arrived it two days, and my father-in-law was pleasantly surprised at how good the watch looked -- he said it looked new! If only he knew. I dutifully accepted the $3 for the cost of the new battery cost, and handed over the watch. He's happy, and so am I. It is nice that Timex keeps selling this model, without visible changes. Worth every penny.

TIMEXはバックライト(indiglo)が美しい！Indigloはアナログ用かと思ったらデジタルもこれなんです。ELの168(105)系チプカシよりしっかりとした造り。よくあるデジタルチプカシは月が表示されませんが、こちらは月も表示されます。ただチプカシの中には年月日曜日時刻とすべて表示できるタイプがありますので好みでしょうか。何と言ってもバンドがメタルエクスパンションベルト(昔風だとエバーバンド?)。取扱説明書は日本語でTIMEXのWEBサイトからPDFが手に入ります。チプカシコレクションをしているとこれが欲しくなると感じますし実際にアマゾンですぐ手に入ってよかったです。 付記：一般のチプカシと違いライトは「右下ボタン」でチプカシでもB650WD-1Aはこの位置。

Seit langem habe ich immer abwechselnd zwei Uhren getragen: Eine Fossil BigTic und eine Swatch. Da die Swatch mittlerweile wirklich nimmer schön anzusehen ist (hatte sie meistens auf der Arbeit an, da sie leicht und angenehm zu tragen ist, im Gegensatz zur wirklich schweren Fossil), war ich auf der Suche nach einer neuen Armbanduhr. Selbst auch in den 80ern groß geworden und nun im mittleren Alter auch nicht mehr davor gefeit mit verklärtem Blick in die Frühzeit der Digitalisierung zurückzuschauen, hatte ich gezielt nach einer 80s-Style-Digitaluhr gesucht. Als erstes stieß ich (wohl fast schon unvermeidbar) auf die verschiedenen CASIO-Digitaluhren, die mir auf den ersten Blick auch gefielen. In einem Geschäft bei mir in der Nähe hatte ich die Möglichkeit, mir mehrere der CASIO-Modelle anzuschauen und muss sagen: DAS is nix! Alle Modelle, die ich unter die Lupe genommen hatten, wirkten billig: Gehäuse ziemlich klein und flach (bei uns der Region sagt man dazu "popelig"), aus verchromten Kunststoff (Resin) und das Armband (zwar aus Edelstahl, sieht aber auch irgendwie billig aus) ist unangenehm zu tragen (steif, scharfkantig). Hier bei Amazon wurde ich dann durch eine Kundenrezension bei einer der CASIO-Uhren auf die TIMEX aufmerksam. Auf den ersten Blick schien es da keine großen Unterschiede zu geben (außer dem Preis), trotzdem beschloss ich, mir mal eine "zur Ansicht" zu bestellen (geht halt zurück, wenn's nix taugt), und ich muss sagen: Klasse! Die Uhr ist ordentlich verarbeitet, sieht schlicht, aber nicht billig aus, obwohl ich mir beim Gehäuse nicht sicher bin, ob das nicht evtl. auch verchromtes Plastik ist (in der Produktbeschreibung steht Messing: könnte sein, könnte nicht sein...). Auf alle Fälle wirkt sie wertiger als die vergleichbaren CASIO-Modelle, auch durch das größere Gehäuse und durch das (meiner Ansicht nach) gut zur Uhr passende Zugband. Das sitzt bei mir übrigens gut: ein wenig straff, jedoch nicht unangenehm. Allerdings könnten (wie in anderen Rezensionen bereits beschrieben) Personen mit etwas breiteren Handgelenken durchaus Probleme bekommen, deshalb hier mal der ungefähre Durchmesser des Armbandes: 5,5 cm. Bis zu 17,5 cm Handgelenk-Umfang sollte es somit noch bequem zu tragen sein, darüber wird's wohl zu stark einschneiden. Das Display ist gut ablesbar, die Indiglo-Beleuchtung sieht schön aus im Dunkeln und, was noch wichtiger ist, erfüllt ihren Zweck. Das Einstellen der Uhr (Zeit, Datum, Alarm) ist einfach und erklärt sich eigentlich von selbst, eine verständliche Bedienungsanleitung liegt dennoch bei, wenn auch etwas "versteckt" in das "Kissen" reingepfriemelt, auf dem die Uhr aufgespannt ist. Falls doch keine dabei sein sollte: Bei timex.de kann man sich die Anleitung im PDF-Format runterladen ("w116.pdf"). Fazit: Für einen kleinen Preis bekommt man eine ordentliche Uhr in 80er-Jahre-Optik, weshalb ich hier mal ganz locker 101* von 101 binären Digital-Sternen vergebe. *101 (binär) entspricht 5 (dezimal)
