I bought this to control some LED lights where I cannot fit Hue lights. Haven't installed properly yet, I just did a test and rigged a 4-way GU10 spotlight fitting to it, with 4 good quality Megaman 6W LED bulbs. I have had loads of issues dimming normal LEDS, as some dimmers can't handle very low loads - even spent a fortune trying different LED bulbs. With my LightwaveRF dimmers, I can't have any of my LED bulbs they control dimmed to a very low level, probably 50% at best.I had low expectations from previous experience of LED dimming. But wow - my preconceptions were thoroughly smashed.Firstly, it was a doddle to pair, the Hue bridge saw it instantly. Others have said there can be issues - apparently it has to be quite close to the Hue Bridge (mine was within 2m of it). Shows in the app as a Hue white light bulb.Secondly the dimming range was fantastic! From 1 to 100%, no problems, no flickering. Had issues before (especially with my LightwaveRF kit) where a dimmer can handle, say 4 bulbs worth of load, but if one goes, then the lower total wattage starts to cause issues with flickering etc., when dimmed. Not with this, pulled 3 bulbs and the single 6W bulb worked perfectly, no degradation in dimming performance at all.Thirdly - and this was a surprise - it supports Hue power-on behaviour. Very unexpected and cool. I have read in a few places it supports OTA updates when used with Hue, will have to wait and see for that one!Really pleasantly surprised by this unit, will be fitting this soon, and getting a few more - and the switch version for my bathroom fan.Another good use for this is if you are, like me, running out of capacity on your Hue Bridge. For instance, I have 4 GU10 Hue LEDs in my bathroom, so will replace them with normal dimmable bulbs and deploy one of these beauties to control all 4 so that I free up capacity for more Hue bulbs where I want the colour or white ambience bulbs. Once I had installed this where I planned I am planning on installing downlighters in my bedroom, and this will save a lot of Hue Bridge capacity (and a lot of money on bulbs!).

I installed the SM309 (dimmer) in a Wagobox XLA inside the ceiling cavity to control a G125 (large globe) 10W LED bulb by Girard Sudron. This was integrated into an existing smart home and the SM309 paired with a Philips Hue Bridge. The module appears as a bulb in the Hue app, and is exposed to Apple HomeKit, allowing control from an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV, in addition to being controllable from the Hue app, Amazon Alexa or Google Home/Nest. I was particularly impressed with HomeKit integration via the Hue Bridge.The SM309 has optional terminals in the top-left to connect a momentary/retractive switch, but this is one device where reading the instructions counts. The terminals are not switch terminals as such; rather, you need to pass a control voltage across the switch and feed a neutral and switched line into the two terminals. It is not the same circuit as the dimmer itself. The voltage can be as low as 8V but I used the existing switch drop and connected to a common live on the same circuit as the light. As such, I could connect neutral to the circuit neutral by connecting the top and bottom neutral terminals together. If you don’t understand that, you should hire a qualified professional.To switch the control circuit I used a Crabtree Instinct 10AX retractive switch for its similarity with existing MK Logic Plus accessories, as despite being a relatively high-priced item at £4.80 it is still more economical and easier to install than a retractive grid switch, yoke and faceplate from the MK Grid Plus range.Dimming performance in combination with the G Sudron lamp is steppy but with excellent low range, so I can’t recommend it for animated sequences, but for combined wireless and traditional switch control via apps, control panels or automation, this is a excellent device.If you have a deep back box or a circular dry lining box behind a pendant ceiling rose, for example, you could conceal this unit. Consider that it ought to be in an enclosure and is not suitable for popping directly in a ceiling or floor void as you might with the Aurora AOne dimmer modules.My only bugbear is the price, which when combined with a suitable lamp and considering that dim-only Zigbee lamps can be had for a fraction of the price from Ikea and Philips, plus the additional installation overhead, makes this an uneconomical choice for single-lamp dimming unless you have a special lamp. Where it becomes more economical is in dimming several lamps such as recessed spotlights, where the cost of individual Zigbee lamps would far outweigh the price of an SM309 plus standard dimmable LED lamps.A lot to take in for a review but I hope it helps someone.

Works well and installation was easy once I worked out how the switch terminals needed to be used. It paired well with Samsung Smartthings easily. There is no ability to use a normal light switch as far as I could tell, but not a major issue to use with a retractive switch. I now have two of these devices, and both working well with 240v dimmable LED units. No idea about longevity, but for now I'm happy. A lower price point would probably have seen me use them for lighting throughout my property. Needs a neutral to the light switch if it is to be mounted in the light switch backbox.

It works only with some switches. I guess they are called retractive. On the other hand, it works smoothly with Philips Hue and Apple Home. So far best I found.

Odio e amore, perfetto come sostituto per un relè passo-passo della Finder (che utilizza il segnale neutro per la parte di pulsante) e l'utilizzo di una lampadina dimmerabile, non sono mai riuscito a farlo funzionare correttamente con un telecomando della Philips HUE (sembra accoppiarsi, ma poi il risultato è che la lampada diventa ingestibile, con un fastidioso lampeggio infinito che si blocca solo tramite la forzatura del reset) ne l'uso con l'access point Zigbee/WiFi della stessa marca non è ottimale (la App di gestione è veramente discutibile).Provato ad utilizzare con un Echo Plus, ha funzionato giusto un paio di ore per poi venire sempre visto come off-line.L'ho tenuto perché funziona perfettamente con il pulsante da muro della Bticino ed è assolutamente silenzioso (un'altra cosa rispetto al fastidioso rumore che faceva il vecchio Finder), cerco che il costo superiore a €35 non rispecchia la qualità del Zigbee.
