There is an internal potentiometer that controls the cut-off.

If you open it up there is a potentiometer inside that you can adjust the cutoff point with (I tried that on the one I ordered and that seemed to work).

What guage wire will this accept?

The wires are factory mounted, you have to connect/solder your own wires to the factory mounted ones.
