The cable that comes with this doesn't have thick enough copper wire in it to carry low voltage high current juice. You need to know how much current/ amps /watts at 8.6v you will be using. I tried to draw np power through the supplied cable and dummy battery into a 5 inch monitor and chained to a wifi encoder. It worked, but my monitor, encoder and cable got hot had short battery life. I used the supplied cables but not the dummy NP battery, and connected my stuff to the 12v from my batteries not the 8.6v through the dummy. This solved the heat and current draw issues using higher voltage lower current but defeated the 8.6v dummy battery for me. Awesome product! should work in most configurations but be aware of how much current you need over how far a distance.

This has a flush design compared to others. I’ve ordered 2 other different brands and they will not lock on to the Atomos Ninja V. The reason is that if you look at the shortest side, the other brands have a subtle “mushroom” shape while this brand has a straight flat flush design (does that make sense?). This allows the dummy battery to lay flat and be pushed so it can be locked. This issue AFAIK, is happening with the Ninja V. Other external monitors works fine with other brands as well as this brand.

Works awesome with my Atomos Shinobi, I like that the wire unplugs from the battery to turn the angle.

I used NP-F batteries to power several lights and small video monitors when I'm in the field. But when I am filming in my home studio, I turn to Fomito's dummy battery and power those same devices with a much higher capacity v-mount battery. Easy to install/connect and works reliably. Recommended.
