If you need an extra warm jacket, this is the one.
I bought a similar jacket, that was half as much recently but it didn’t keep me very warm. I bought this after a friend bought it and was happy so I returned the first and purchased this. It keeps me so warm in really cold, damp weather, and I find the hood the best I’ve had ever. The hood is fleece-lined, warm, big enough to fully cover my head and instead of flopping down over my eyes, stays some what upright so I can see. It has snaps on both sides so that if you are wearing a heavy sweater you can expand it up to make up for the added bulk. I didn’t know this when I purchased and I went up a size. I think this coat runs a bit large and my coat is really roomy. It almost feels like a blanket. These puffy jackets are not flattering but it’s about function, not style. I could have ordered my regular size with the snaps. But I am very happy with its roominess as it never constricts my movement. I don’t really like all the zippers and pulls all over it, but it keeps me warm and that’s why I purchased it. I have found it too warm on more moderate days, but it’s my go to on the coldest days. Finally, I got the red color and really like it; bright but not garish.

Better than most brand name coats
Just buy this! The quality is shockingly good. It’s super pretty on and warm! I love it and will buy another one.

10/10
Colorado tested and approved. XS is perfect for easy layering (petite 5’0” ~100 lbs), plus the hood and side zips helped immensely while walking around Denver in sleet. Let’s talk pockets: you’re gonna love em all. I was most thrilled about the inside zipper pocket, which I’m confident will elude everyone in my life for years to come. The jacket is made even more visually pleasing thanks to the incredible interior details and Lester Nygaard pop of orange. Can’t wait to try this baby out in Fargo!

Arctic grade
This will get me through a Canadian winter without hypothermia. Pretty heavy but well-made, very very warm, lots of useful pockets. The only drawback is no hood drawstring, but I'm pretty sure I can add one myself without too much fuss

Falling apart at the seams.
EDIT: Superb customer service! A day after my original review posted, I was contacted by the company and instantly mailed a replacement coat at no cost! Here’s to hoping the last coat was a defective item and this one holds up much better. Thank you Orolay team!Loved this coat off the rack, but defects soon were abound. This coat is seemingly falling apart in front of my eyes. First week, one of the button loops attaching the fur hood broke. No big deal. But after about a month or so, the inside thin fabric had ripped from the seams, causing major feather leakage! I’m talking feathers on the floor where I went, in my car, and especially all over the arm and back side of my shirts. I’m so so disappointed, I really wanted to love this coat because aesthetically it’s wonderful. However, even my attempts to hand stitch the lining back in place failed as it simply ripped again, being so thin and flimsy.

Great at keeping you warm!
I’ve gotten many compliments on this! It’s comfortable and incredibly warm. I’m in an area where we have negative windchills and this was a lifesaver, definitely worth the purchase.

Comfy, stylish, warm, and affordable
2021 update — loved my old jacket so much that I decided after 2 1/2 years to buy another one. Then they went on sale, so I bought two! They arrived quickly packed in little bags to compress and protect them. There are a few differences from my old one. Sizing seems more accurate. I previously sized up, but the coat still felt a little skimpy in the arms and at the hip. These are the same size but much roomier. Not sure if the old one was sized incorrectly, or if they’ve adjusted due to customer feedback. These will be far more comfortable and leave room for a bulky sweater or a wool jacket underneath. I was thinking of returning them for my usual size since these seem a bit puffier due to added material and the front zippers are a bit more prominent, but I think these will be a lot better for commuting … I no longer need to unzip the sides to sit down. The other differences I noticed were these have a silver and black interior at the back so the lining isn’t all orange anymore … and in the navy blue one, the orange fabric lining is stamped Orolay all over— Perhaps this is an anti counterfeit measure? The red one has the same black with silver dot section of lining, but the orange part is logo-less. Speaking of logos, the navy coat also has an Orolay logo on the sleeve ( the red one and my old black one do not). I’m not a fan of clothing with obvious logos, but this is fairly discreet and not a deal breaker. I’m guessing the red coat I got was older stock and the blue one is newer —or it’s possible the navy one is a fake. Stamping Orolay all over might be overcompensation! The collar label is completely different and it doesn’t have a catchy saying on it like the other ones do…it just says “Made in China.” It would be interesting to hear from the manufacturer when/if this change in design occurred. Another difference is the new ones both have an interior chest pocket. All said, I think these are great coats. Hoping I get as much wear and enjoyment from them as I did from my original. I’d be curious to know how to brighten up the “fleece” hood lining without washing the full garment — I doubt it would survive our washing machines, but compared to the new ones, it looks a bit dingy. All said, I’d give these coats an enthusiastic thumbs up. Old review follows, below:Love the jacket's styling and the construction seems sturdy. Very comfortable and warm when it's cold outside, but still wearable indoors while shopping or in milder spring weather. I didn't feel overheated ( but did need to unzip!) The down seems well distributed, and so far it hasn't been coming out. the parachute-like cloth exterior seems sturdy, and I really like the orange lining. Some stitching seemed a bit loose and one snap seemed fragile, but I generally think it's well made. I really like the look of the big hood as a wide collar, and the pockets are handy. I sized up and it fits fine, tho I wish it were a few inches longer. ( it hits me just below the thigh at front, but it's about 2 inches longer in the back, so wearing leggings is still an option. . It feels much less bulky than other down jackets I've owned -much narrower in the arms and shoulders so it gives less of a "Michelin man" round silhouette. It hangs very nicely as an open jacket. When zipped up It feels a bit snug at the hip for me, but the extra zippers at the side can be opened for a slightly looser fit. Suggest buyers go up one or two sizes, depending on whether or not you plan to wear bulky clothing, especially jackets or sweaters, underneath, or if you prefer a loose fit. As others have said, the zippers are a little sticky, and there are some weird ribbons (zipper pulls?) that dangle. Not sure how long they'll last. But otherwise, I'm very pleased with it. I've already gotten several compliments- and several people I know are planning to get one ( or one in a similar style). Price point makes this a no brainer- if you're on the fence, just buy it! You will definitely enjoy it. And at the rate this winter has been going, you may be able to wear it until May!
