Decent cable that when compared to a 15 dollar similar cable, actually comes out on top
I bought this along with a 15 dollar similar cable from a high quality brand and found that I actually prefer this cable and will likely put the more expensive one in the drawer. The reason I prefer this cable is because the two cables coming off the main plug of this one are longer and the braided wires will tangle less and be more durable than cables with a thin rubber coating.***If you're concerned at all about compatibility please read below***I want to make a comment on compatibility with these cables, because I bought one and swore the mic side was bad because I plugged it into my computer and it was not receiving the mic signals, but it was due to a mistake on my part and the way I was trying to use it. As with all the other cables like this they advertise being compatible with PC, Xbox, and Playstation. It's important to realize that this cable is compatible with those devices because they are designed to receive the mic and send the audio to the headphones in the same 3.5mm plug. The issue of compatibility has less to do with what is labeled as compatible and more to do with how to device is intended to be used. You will see commenters say it wasn't compatible with their device. Well that's not entirely true. It's likely they were using the cable incorrectly because this cable is definitely compatible with any device designed to receive and send audio data from the same 3.5mm plug. This cable is compatible with the Xbox One headset adapter on the controller and I'm sure would be compatible with the playstation equivalent(I only had the xbox controller to test). most laptops or desktops with one headphone jack will be compatible as well. A good rule to use would be if there's one 3.5mm jack and you would want to send it microphone data and receive sound at the same time it will probably be compatible. A place where the device isn't compatible would be my desktop's sound card, which has a specific mic input and a specific output. It turned out to not be capable of using a plug with both in one. If it's not working properly make sure to test the cable on another device before discrediting it as a bad cable, unlike me who spent extra money to buy a more expensive cable when I already had a good one.

Does not work with some microphones for apps that record on smartphone or tablet...
I was hopeful for a plug-in, external mic solution for my phone and tablets. However, this would not work with my Samsung tablet, iPad, or Samsung phone when I was using an analog, condenser microphone. It did work with a dynamic microphone that came from an old portable cassette tape recorder. The system software controls the mic input choices, not whether I use the plug-in jack. It is possible that my condenser microphone has the incorrect impedance value to work with enough of a signal to trigger input, but my purpose was to use the equipment I have rather than buy more.As a lapel type microphone, I will just use an earbud/mic set for closeup work and explore its value for table top interview and ambient recording. The earbud/mic combo that comes with my smartphone works as a mic on my tablets as well.I may also be able to get an extension cord and use the small dynamic mic I have at the end of it. The quality of the old dynamic mic was an improvement over the built-in microphones in terms of reduced background noise, so that was a nice discovery.Other options I would consider if buying additional equipment would be a Bluetooth mic or Bluetooth earbud/mic combo, or a microphone specifically designed for my tablet or smartphone. I did see some plug-in models designed for the three channel plug-in of smart phones and tablets. Most of them would simply attach to the device and would not give you any distance between your subject and your tablet or a convenient way to put it on a mic stand. For something like that but on a cable, you may have to look harder or find a way to get an external cable to work, keeping in mind you will need to make it work with the three channel plug-in once you reach the device.I will keep this piece for now since I am getting a result with one of my old microphones. You may prefer a simple jack without cables that does the same function.I hope this is helpful. I have spent a lot of time looking for solutions that get around contemporary equipment that have removed external mic inputs or combine them on one plug. So, I’d like to spare you the trouble I’ve gone through.

Worked great for me (used on PS4)
It's a cable "splitter" so there really isn't much to say. I like that the connectors are metal so it gives it a sturdier feel. Just to clarify the "splitter" it's not your typical splitter. Usually a splitter will take one channel and make it two identical channels, this separates the audio from the microphone so that you can use older 2/3 pole devices with newer 4 pole jacks.I will say that the blue metal on the male connector came loose. I put a dab of super glue on the barrel and slid it back into place, no big deal.I used this with a Logitech G430 headset on a PS4 and it works great, just always be sure to plug the controller in last otherwise the PS4 won't detect the headset properly.

Did not work out of box
Need this for my computer to take my front aux port to a microphone and headphone port but does not work. Went into computer settings and tried to change default and switch stuff but I could only get headphone or microphone but never at the same time.

Would not buy again
Would not recommend to anyone. My Fiancé originally bought me set of gaming headphones by the same manufacturer. The sound was ok, but they had a short in the splitter from the moment they were unboxed. She wrote a review of them stating what happened and the company said they would replace the headphones if she removed the review. She told them she would update the review instead and they then refused to replace the headphones.I then bought this splitter myself to replace the one that didn’t work not realizing it was the exact same one. I unboxed the splitter and it like the one before never worked, it had a short in the headphone side of the y-connection. (I am an electrician and know how to diagnose shorts and connection problems).

Worked for one day only
Bought this for my son to use on his xbox one controller. It worked only on the first day. On the second day it required being almost completely still for it to work. After the second day (even when playing statue), it just would not work period. Don’t waste your money. This is very poorly built.

Seems good so far
Had to adapt my PC headset for my new laptop. Works well so far. Feels like good quality. Slightly pricey for a y adapter but not cheap quality either.
